Break Out The Brooms: Saints Sweep Comets

SIOUX FALLS, SD (GC.com) Presentation College Saints ran off with the lead late in the game in a 9-4 victory over Mayville State on Friday. The game was tied at four with Presentation College Saints batting in the bottom of the sixth when Matt Schooler singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Mayville State scored three runs in the sixth inning, but Presentation College Saints still managed to pull out the victory. The offensive firepower by Mayville State was led by Quinton Bidon and Brady Nygaard, all driving in runs in the frame.

Presentation College Saints got things started in the second inning. Presentation College Saints scored one run when Anthony Guzman singled.

Presentation College Saints pulled away for good with five runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth Jesse Spangler hit a solo homer, Guzman singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, and Zane Hunt singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Brendan Delgado was the winning pitcher for Presentation College Saints. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over three and a third innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Gabe Lizarraga took the loss for Mayville State. He allowed nine hits and five runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one.

Austin Herrington started the game for Mayville State. He allowed six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out seven Chris D’Amico started the game for Presentation College Saints. He surrendered four runs on four hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking zero

Presentation College Saints launched one home run on the day. Spangler had a long ball in the sixth inning.

Presentation College Saints totaled 15 hits in the game. Gilbert Aguilar, Guzman, Schooler, Jace Wyatt, and Spangler all collected multiple hits for Presentation College Saints. Guzmanand Aguilar each collected three hits to lead Presentation College Saints.

Evyn Yamaguchi went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Mayville State in hits.

SIOUX FALLS, SD (GC.com) Presentation College Saints weathered a scare by Mayville State in the fourth inning where Presentation College Saints coughed up three runs, but Presentation College Saints still won 8-4 on Friday. Mayville State scored its runs on a home run by Brady Nygaard.

Colin Crandall was credited with the victory for Presentation College Saints. He went six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking one. D Kaczmar threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Kaczmar recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Presentation College Saints.

Josh Rodriguez took the loss for Mayville State. He surrendered eight runs on 12 hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Presentation College Saints smacked one home run on the day. Zane Hunt had a homer in the third inning.

Presentation College Saints tallied 12 hits. Hunt, Jace Wyatt, and Eric Hernandez all collected multiple hits for Presentation College Saints. Wyatt and Hunt each collected three hits to lead Presentation College Saints.

Mayville State scattered eight hits in the game. Jon Pluth, Payton De Luca, and Nygaard each had multiple hits for Mayville State. Mayville State was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Mason Przybilla had the most chances in the field with six.
