Colorado man dies of injuries sustained in motorcycle crash

JOHNSON SIDING, S.D. (Press Release) – A Yuma, CO man has died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019 near Johnson Siding.

A 2015 Harley Davidson Street Glide was northbound on Norris Peak Road when the driver lost control while approaching a bridge. The motorcycle eventually slid into a ditch and struck a barbed wire fence.

The driver, 67-year-old Tony Weber, was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital where he died Sunday, Aug. 11.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. It is the third fatality recorded during this year’s Sturgis Rally.

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
