Congress unable to reach agreement on expanded disaster funding

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – Congress left Washington this week without an agreement on expanded disaster funding.

South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says there were more negotiations.

The hang up is between extra funding for Puerto Rico and the Midwest.

Rounds says the argument won’t impact what FEMA is doing.

Rounds says since the final damage estimates are not yet in, there is time to fix the funding.

Damage estimates from Iowa and Nebraska are in the range of $1.5 billion each, while South Dakota has not yet submitted an estimate.
