Day Two Highlights for NSU at the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships

BISMARCK, ND ( – The Northern State University swim team tallied their first podium finish of the NSIC Championships and added six season best times and one personal record in the night cap of day two.



Team Place: 7th (80 points)



  • Hannah Kiernan placed 14th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:50.23, followed by Lexie Malimanek in 23rd with a time of 4:58.86
  • Marialuisa Avila notched the Wolves first top-8 finish of the meet, taking sixth in the 100 fly with a time of 58.45
  • Also placing in the 100 fly were Lauren Forsyth in tenth (58.09), Georgy Turner in 21st (1:00.57), and Connor Doran in 24th (1:00.81)
  • Josie Gillund recorded a 15th place finish in the 200 free, hitting the wall at 1:57.37, with teammate Delaney Ryken one place behind notching a time of 1:57.65
  • Doran also added a 23rd place finish in the 200 free, recording a time of 1:58.17
  • The 200 free relay team of Avila, Megan Pattee, Doran, and Gillund hit the wall in tenth with a time of 1:38.77, while the squad of Melani Mercer, Maycie Olson, Kennedy Davis, and Shayna Asuncion placed 13th with a time of 1:43.29
  • Northern concluded the evening with the 400 medley relay team of Emma Murdock, Asuncion, Forsyth, and Ryken taking 11th with a time of 4:00.92
  • The relay team of Turner, Delanee Grier, Avila, and Mercer took 15th in the 400 medley, hitting the wall at 4:07.02



Northern returns to action tomorrow at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., competing in the 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 200 fly, and 800 free relay.
