GF&P getting solid response to bounty program

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – The Rules Review Committee of the South Dakota legislature had questions and wanted more information about habitat and bounty programs run by the Game, Fish and Parks Department.

G, F & P wildlife director Tony Leif (life) told the committee they are getting good response to the bounty program.

Ten dollars is paid for each tail submitted.

Leif says they know there is some controversy with the program.

Committee Chair, Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says she didn’t see a clear rule dealing with the bounty program.

Senator Lance Russell of Hot Springs supported the move to revert the rules.

The committee voted 3-2 to send the rules back to the Game, Fish & Parks Commission.
