Huron man identified in fatal crash east of Mitchell

MITCHELL, S.D. (Press Release) – A Huron, S.D., man has been identified as the person who died in a one-vehicle crash that occurred two miles east of Mitchell.

A 2008 Chrysler Town and County Van was eastbound on 250th Street when the vehicle eventually entered the south ditch, went through a barbed wire fence and into the James River.

Authorities Wednesday morning recovered a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country Van. A short time later, the body of 22-year-old Abraham Ramos-Ramirez was found along the river’s west shore about a quarter of a mile away.

The deceased has been confirmed to be the only person in the vehicle. He had been reported to the Huron Police Department as a missing person on Saturday, March 30. The actual time and date of the crash are still under investigation.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

The Highway Patrol is part of the Department of Public Safety.
