STURGIS, S.D. (KBHB) – South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson got a tour of the Dakota Arms factory in Sturgis Tuesday.

Dakota Arms staff showed Johnson how ammunition is made and the step by step process to making a firearm.

Johnson says he enjoyed his first-hand look at how they are made right here in the heart of the Black Hills.

Johnson said one of the great success stories in South Dakota is how the firearms industry has grown in South Dakota.

Johnson says he saw just how efficient and professional the staff is at Dakota Arms especially with all of today’s regulations on firearms.

Earlier Tuesday, Johnson visited with veterans at Fort Meade. Monday, he met with veterans at the hospital in Hot Springs.

He says his conversations with veterans are always the most meaningful to him.

Johnson says he believes the state’s congressional delegation has a team focus when it comes to helping veterans.

He says PTSD, substance abuse, homelessness and suicide remain top priorities for veterans today.
