Lawmakers pass general spending bill for 2020

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota legislators voted early this morning on the budget bills to wrap up the session.

SB191 is the general spending bill for fiscal year 2020.

Senator John Wiik (wick) of Big Stone City, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, says there is more money included for their priority, nursing homes.

Wiik says there are several increases.

Senator Stace Nelson of Fulton objected, concerned about a veto from the Governor.

That bill passed the Senate on a vote of 27 to 2. It earlier passed in the House on a vote of 53 to 6. Both Houses then adjourned until the final day on March 29.
