In Shreveport, LA…

Elimination Bracket…

4-Columbia (MO)  15-12

The hosts in Shreveport were eliminated by Columbia (MO), 15-12.  The game was absolutely ridiculous as LSU-Shreveport scored 3x in the T1 and 5x in the T2… but Columbia did the exact same in the bottom of the innings!  Columbia took a 2-run lead in the B6 before the hosts scored twice & tied it in the T8.  Columbia’s final 5R B8, though was too much for LSU-Shreveport to overcome as they were held to 2R in the T9.

4-Columbia (MO)  5-4

1-OKC Univ.

The OKC defense collapsed in the T9 as Columbia came back from a 4-1 deficit to take the lead…

After a leadoff HR in the 9th, CC got a couple of singles to chase starter Justin Berry.  A sac bunt saw the new pitcher throw the ball away, leading to another run, and an ensuing sac fly tied the game at four w/ a runner at 2nd.  The next batter hit a fly out to RF, which led to the go ahead run as the man at 2nd drew a throw in from RF that went awry and allowed him to come home for a 5-4 lead.  The hosts had a 2-out rally going w/ a double & an intentional walk(!), but Bryson Lierle struck out on a full count pitch to end the game & OKC’s season.

Winners Bracket…

In Columbia, MO…

1-VCSU  5-3 (8inn)

2-Columbia (MO)

VCSU came back to remain the lone unbeaten in their bracket w/ a 5-3 win in extras Tuesday.  The Vikings put 2R on the board in the T1, but Columbia answered w/ a 2-run triple in the home-half of the frame.  The Cougars took the lead w/ a run in the 5th, and VCSU was down to its last out in the 7th before coming up w/ a 2-out rally to force extra innings.  A triple from Joelle Aiello put the pressure on, and Columbia couldn’t handle a grounder from the next batter as Aiello came home to tie it.  In the 8th, Autumn Perry singled w/ two down and scored the game-winner on a triple from Kadie Anderson.  Tatum Lundin added an RBI-single for some insurance.  Freshman Emilee Wilson went 7.2inn for the win, coming on for Emily Smith after she allowed those 2R in the B1.  Wilson whiffed nine in the win.

1-Marian (IN)  5-2

IU SE gave Marian a little scare again – not as big as their 1st round 14inn game – but the one-loss Marian squad survived w/ a 5-2 comeback win.  IU SE scored 2x in the T1, and Marian got on the board w/ 1R in the 4th and a pair of runs each in the B5 & B6.
