In Henderson, TN…
3-TX Wesleyan 7-6 (10inn)
Clarke (IA) tied things w/ a pair of 9th inning runs, but TX Wesleyan walked-off winners w/ an errant throw from the pitcher bringing in the winning run w/ two down. Clarke committed five errors that led to three unearned runs.
3-TX Wesleyan 2-1
Concordia out-hit TX Wesleyan, 10-5, but the Rams had a 2-run single among their 5H, while Concordia stranded 11 in a 2-1 loss. Houston Glad went the full 9inn for TX Wesleyan in the win.
1-OK Wesleyan 8-3
OK Wesleyan became the final unbeaten team in Henderson, TN, with a win over Freed-Hardman, 8-3. The pitchers were not on their game as the squads combined to walk nine and plunk four.
In Santa Barbara, CA…
2-Westmont (CA) 7-3
Westmont (CA) sent the Jimmies home thanks to a 4-run 9th after trailing Jamestown 2-0 and 3-2. Each team had 8H in the game, but UJ committed two errors that resulted in two unearned runs.
2-Westmont (CA) 9-0
Justin Sanders threw a CG 2-hitter in the win.
1-Science & Arts (OK) 11-2
3-Antelope Valley (CA)
The Science & Arts’ guys piled up 13H and drew 7BB in an 11-2 romp over Antelope Valley. The Drovers had four different players w/ multiple runs and four w/ multiple RBI. Colton Williams got it done by himself on the bump, though, going the full 9inn and allowing 1ER on 4H w/ 4K & 3BB.
In Shreveport, LA…
4-Columbia (MO) 15-12
The hosts in Shreveport were eliminated by Columbia (MO), 15-12. The game was absolutely ridiculous as LSU-Shreveport scored 3x in the T1 and 5x in the T2… but Columbia did the exact same in the bottom of the innings! Columbia took a 2-run lead in the B6 before the hosts scored twice & tied it in the T8. Columbia’s final 5R B8, though was too much for LSU-Shreveport to overcome as they were held to 2R in the T9.
4-Columbia (MO) 5-4
The OKC defense collapsed in the T9 as Columbia came back from a 4-1 deficit to take the lead…
After a leadoff HR in the 9th, CC got a couple of singles to chase starter Justin Berry. A sac bunt saw the new pitcher throw the ball away, leading to another run, and an ensuing sac fly tied the game at four w/ a runner at 2nd. The next batter hit a fly out to RF, which led to the go ahead run as the man at 2nd drew a throw in from RF that went awry and allowed him to come home for a 5-4 lead. The hosts had a 2-out rally going w/ a double & an intentional walk(!), but Bryson Lierle struck out on a full count pitch to end the game & OKC’s season.
3-Bellevue (NE) 6-1
The Bruins won the battle of unbeaten (in the bracket) Nebraska teams, downing York, 6-1. Kory Longaker was 2/5 w/ a run, 2RBI, and two doubles; while Bailey Link went 2/3 w/ 2R scored for BU. Jarrett Poh went the distance, giving up a run on 6H w/ 4K & 4BB.
NAIA Softball Tourney
In Columbia, MO…
1-VCSU 5-3 (8inn)
VCSU came back to remain the lone unbeaten in their bracket w/ a 5-3 win in extras Tuesday. The Vikings put 2R on the board in the T1, but Columbia answered w/ a 2-run triple in the home-half of the frame. The Cougars took the lead w/ a run in the 5th, and VCSU was down to its last out in the 7th before coming up w/ a 2-out rally to force extra innings. A triple from Joelle Aiello put the pressure on, and Columbia couldn’t handle a grounder from the next batter as Aiello came home to tie it. In the 8th, Autumn Perry singled w/ two down and scored the game-winner on a triple from Kadie Anderson. Tatum Lundin added an RBI-single for some insurance. Freshman Emilee Wilson went 7.2inn for the win, coming on for Emily Smith after she allowed those 2R in the B1. Wilson whiffed nine in the win.
4-Madonna (MI) 1-0
Each team managed just 2H as Madonna manufactured a run on a lead-off double, a fly out, and a 2nd fly out for a sac fly.
2-Columbia (MO) 3-2
Molly Carter did it all for Columbia, throwing a 4-hitter and ripping a key 2-run triple in a 3-2 elimination of Madonna.
In Dodge City, KS…
1-Science & Arts (OK)
2-Houston-Victoria (TX) 1-0
Houston-Victoria dealt Science & Arts just their 2nd loss of the season yesterday (53-2 record), w/ a 1-0 win. The Texans got a 1-out walk and ensuing double in the B1 for the lone run of the game. The team had just 2H, but they still notched the win after allowing only 4H.
4-Avila (MO) 4-3
The Bruins out-hit Avila (MO) heavily, 11-4, but they still were eliminated by the Eagles, 4-3. Bellevue gave up 3R in the B1 and never quite caught up after another run in the 5th for Avila. BU allowed one unearned run, but piled up five errors. The team stranded nine runners in the loss.
1-Science & Arts (OK) 10-3
Science & Arts put things away early w/ 3R in the B1 and 5R in the B2 as they romped over Avila, 10-3. Randa Hatter put on a show, going 2/3 w/ 2R & 6RBI thanks to 2HR’s.
In Springfield, MO…
2-Baker (KS) 1-0 (10inn)
After living on the edge Monday w/ a 14inn win, Marian (IN) suffered their 1st loss of the season (50-1 record) Tuesday, dropping a 1-0 decision in 10inn to Baker (KS). Baker’s Olivia Brees tossed a 10-inning no-hitter for the triumph! She blew through the line-up, giving up just 2BB w/ 14K. Briele Rees singled home Hannah Flynn w/ a single in the B10.
4-IN Univ. Southeast 1-0
Becca Schoenung scored the lone run of the game on a stolen base in the B4 as IU SE edged Midland, 1-0, in a real pitchers duel. Each team allowed only 1H in the game. Midland committed two errors in the 4th that let Schoenung reach base and later advance to 3rd base. She came home on a double steal w/ two down.
4-IN Univ. Southeast
1-Marian (IN) 5-2
IU SE gave Marian a little scare again – not as big as their 1st round 14inn game – but the one-loss Marian squad survived w/ a 5-2 comeback win. IU SE scored 2x in the T1, and Marian got on the board w/ 1R in the 4th and a pair of runs each in the B5 & B6.
2-Olivet Nazarene (IL)
OKC & Olivet Nazarene each had 9H, but four of the OKC hits were home runs in an 8-3 win. OKC stranded just four runners, while ONU left eight on the bags.
3-Morningside (IA) 4-0
Morningside held Friends to 3H in a 4-0 shut-out to survive their 1st elimination game of the tourney. Carson Cameron went 3/4 w/ 3R in the win.
