President Huber retiring

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Press Release) – Today, Presentation College announces that Margaret (Maggie) Huber, Ph.D., is retiring from her position of President of the College, effective October 1, 2019.

Dr. Huber has been at the helm of Presentation College since January 2012.  Dr. Huber’s goal was to ensure that Presentation College establish itself as a viable member of the higher education community. Recent highlights of her leadership include the launch of Presentation’s first ever graduate program: a master’s in nursing with a track for family nurse practitioners. She also developed the Presentation College Avera Simulation Center, offering the latest technology for healthcare training and education, including five rooms equipped with hospital beds, specialized medical equipment and interactive manikins.

She established the Vice President for Mission  position to ensure that the legacy of Nano Nagle lives on through Presentation College.  Dr. Huber champions a holistic experience for students. Contrary to national demographics, Dr. Huber led the campus to its all-time high enrollment in Fall 2016.  She directed the College through successful graduate and undergraduate nursing accreditation processes as well as Higher Learning Commission approval. Recognizing the importance of a safe and welcoming higher education environment to student success, she led successful efforts to update the physical campus, including building the East Suites student residences, creating the campus green, erecting the winter Dome to meet the needs of students, athletes, and community members, and creating the College Welcome Center and Saint Square in  the main building.

At Presentation, Dr. Huber has been an active member of professional organizations including the South Dakota Association of  Independent Colleges (SDAIC) and serving on the national board of the National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as well as chair and member of the executive committee for the North Star Athletic Association.

Prior to her current position at Presentation College, Dr. Huber held other positions in higher education, including President of La Roche College (now La Roche University) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, President of College of Notre Dame (now Notre Dame de Namur University) in San Francisco, California and   Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey.

She holds a doctorate in higher education from the University of Michigan; master’s degree in nonprofit administration from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business; and, a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Duquesne University.

“We thank Dr. Huber for her dedication and commitment to Presentation College over the past eight years. We wish her well as she begins her retirement, ” said Sister Janice Klein, President of the Presentation Sisters of Aberdeen.

“Dr. Huber’s many contributions as President of Presentation College have led to a better experience for numerous students and staff. She has had an extraordinary career and we are grateful for her years of service,” said PC Board of Trustees Chair, Dave  Giovannini.

A search committee has been established to conduct a national search with the goal of having a new president in place by July 1, 2020.
