Regents approve plan allowing USD develop new college at University Center

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – The South Dakota Board of Regents approved a plan that will allow the University of South Dakota to develop a new college at the University Center in Sioux Falls.

The current Executive Director of the University Center, Carmen Simone, says it will change their focus and classes offered.

The center has been a cooperative effort between USD, South Dakota State and Dakota State.

Simone says there is a population of underserved students in the Sioux Falls area.

Simone says they can also help introduce students to higher education.

The new college, yet to be named, will start by offering access to USD associate degrees in general studies, integrated services, and graphic and web design and bachelor’s degrees in technical leadership and general studies.
