Alexandria Angels  10-3

Tabor Bluebirds

The Angels rode the usual strong performance from Tyson Gau to a 2nd round win over Tabor on Monday, 10-3.  The Bluebirds got a pair of runs in the B9, but never really threatened Alexandria.  Gau went 7inn and gave up 1R on 4H w/ 6K & 2BB.  Jordan Gau threw the last 2inn and gave up the two late runs, both unearned.  Pierce Smith was 1/3 w/ 3R scored for Alex in the win.

Mt. Vernon Mustangs

Milbank Firechiefs  6-5

Milbank recorded a walk-off win over Mount Vernon to punch their ticket to the 3rd round of the tourney, 6-5, yesterday.  It looked like the Firechiefs would cruise into the next round, dominating in the hits department & holding a 3-run lead late, but a 9th inning surge by the Mustangs forced the B9 and the Firechiefs responded quickly.  Milbank held a 5-2 lead going into the 9th w/ Mt. Vernon having just 2H in the game.  In the T9, the Mustangs extended the game w/ a walk, a single, and a hitter batter to load the bags w/ nobody down.  Chase Hetland drove in two w/ a single, but Briggs Havlik was out at home, trying to tie the game all the way from 1st base.  That left Hetland at 3rd w/ one down.  After a ground out made it two down, Eric Giblin singled home Hetland to tie it, but he was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.  In the home half of the frame, Travis Lester got plunked to start things off.  Jacob Jackson bunted pinch runner Jonny Ash to 2nd, and after an IBB to Lance Frogner, Brady Krause hit a full count pitch to left field to give Milbank the win.  Dom Boerger was in line for the win, going 6inn and allowing just 1R on 2H w/ 11K & 5BB, but Taylor Boerger couldn’t quite close it out.  Taylor sniped the victory after giving up 4R (3ER) on 3H w/ 1K & 3BB in 3IP.  Luke Tiesler coughed up 5R in his start, all unearned, as Milbank had 11H and struck out 6x against him in 5.2inn.  The loss went against Bradley Dean who threw 2.2inn and coughed up 1R on 4H w/ 2K & 1BB.  Jesse Krause was 3/5 w/ a run & a ribbie, while Frogner finished 3/4 w/ a run scored.
