Two-sport Augustana athlete accused of first-degree burglary

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – A two-sport athlete at Augustana University is accused of first-degree burglary for breaking into a woman’s dorm room.

Police spokesman Sam Clemens says Peyton Zabel, 19, from Pierre, walked into the dorm room Saturday then laid down on her bed.

When she awoke, police say she yelled at him to leave then ran to a neighbor’s room.

Zabel’s blood alcohol was .163 percent according to police.

Zabel plays football and baseball for Augustana.

He’s also charged with underage consumption and disorderly conduct.
