USD President says new health sciences building badly needed

VERMILLION, S.D. (WNAX) – Governor Kristi Noem included $5 million for a new health sciences building at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in her 2021 budget proposal to the legislature.

USD President Sheila Gestring says it is badly needed.

Gestring says the $5 five million is only part of the cost.

The new building will pull together many programs that are scattered across the campus.

The new building will be built where Julian Hall now stands. Gestring says they are working on the design phase of the building and could start construction next summer.
