ABERDEEN, SD (NSUWolves.com) – Northern State University head soccer coach Ryszard Gorski has announced the addition of Frédérique Beens to the 2019 Wolves soccer roster. She will join Katinka Ummels (Urmond, Netherlands), Ona Aldea Blasco (Barcelona, Spain), Morgan Bury (Laramie, WY), Demeree McLean (Meridian, ID), Georgia-May Murphy (Liverpool, England), Alexis Roessler (Appleton, WI), Lonneke van Eijk (Limburg, Belgium), and Haley Wammock (Yakima, WA).
“Frédérique comes to Northern from the Netherlands. She is a goalkeeper who is regarded as a very exciting talent having been invited to train with the KNVB (Dutch Soccer) regional talent team, as well as professional Dutch soccer clubs PEC Zwolle and SC Heerenveen,” explained Gorski. “Even though she is still very young, she has four years of experience playing in the first team at the senior women’s level. That kind of experience is invaluable and will bring a tremendous mindset to NSU.”
Frédérique Beens is a 5’5”, goalkeeper out of Genemuiden, Netherlands, and the Van der Capellen at Zwolle. She is a member of the SC Genemuiden women’s team who has won championships in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2014, and 2015. They finished as the runner-up at the Dutch National Youth Championship in 2015.
Gorski added, “Her distribution, footwork, and reading of the game are some of the skillsets that got my attention. The coaching philosophies of the Dutch are regarded as the best in the world, so with Frédérique being brought up in that environment, you know what you are going to get from her is going to be pure passion and love of the game. A true understanding of what it takes to be a competitor and a winner! I am thrilled that she has chosen Northern State to further her academic and playing career.”
