Wolves Compete At NSIC Indoor T&F Championships

Mankato, MN (NSUWolves.com) [Day 1] – The Northern State University track and field teams closed out the opening day of the NSIC Indoor Championships advancing six to the finals on Sunday. In addition, three Wolves tallied all-conference awards with multiple top-8 finishers as well. Northern sits third (men) with 26 points and sixth (women) with 14.5 points.

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sean Juengst sits seventh in the heptathlon heading into day two with 2,441 points; he tallied marks of 7.71 in the 60m, 5.93m in the long jump, 10.55m in the shot put ,and 1.89m in the high jump
  • Eli Radtke sits 11thin the heptathlon with 2,305 points notching marks of 7.54 in the 60m, 5.91m in the long jump, 10.00m in the shot put, and 1.71m in the high jump
  • The distance medley relay squad of Nathan Alto, Carter Moller, Jonathan Burkhalter, and Josh Martin took fifth with a time of 10:15.71
  • Joel Matehs advanced to the 60m hurdle final in seventh with a time of 8.28
  • Nick Olson landed on the podium in the weight throw, tossing 17.24m in eighth place overall
  • Martin qualified for the finals of the 1000m with a time of 2:31.43 in sixth
  • Jackson Harrison finished as the runner-up in the 5000m with a time of 14:51.45
  • Glen Quayle added a runner-up finish in the pole vault, clearing 4.87m, followed by Sam Tremelling in fifth (4.67m) and Eli Radtke in eighth (4.47m)

 

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • The distance medley relay team of Jennifer Clark, Vanessa Klein, Alli Jackson, and Megan Pickering took seventh with a time of 12:37.26
  • Renea Taylor advanced to the finals in the 60m hurdles with a provisional time of 8.70 in fourth
  • Breaking her own school record in the 60m, Taylor advanced with a provisional time of 7.49 in third
  • The Northern State women scored big in the pole vault, led by Kenzee Danielson in third with a mark of 3.71m
  • Laci Leverty and Bethany Dybdahl followed in fifth and sixth with marks of 3.41m
  • Mary Franssen heads into the finals of the 1000m tomorrow with the fast time in prelims, crossing the finish line in 3:02.57
  • Taylor closed out her day, qualifying for the 200m final with a provisional time of 24.82 in sixth

 

BEYOND THE RESULTS

  • Danielson recorded the first all-conference award of the meet for Northern State, taking third in the pole vault
  • Harrison notched his second straight all-conference honor in the 5000m
  • Quayle rounded out the all-conference honorees for the Wolves taking second in the pole vault
  • Taylor will compete in three finals races tomorrow where she qualified for all three with provisional times

Mankato, MN (NSUWolves.com) [Day 2] – The Northern State University track and field teams return to Aberdeen with six all-conference honorees, multiple school records, and more personal bests than we can count. The Wolves took seventh (women) and eighth (men) from the NSIC Indoor Championships. The Northern State women tallied 39.5 points, while the men recorded 45 points.

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sean Juengst took eighth in the heptathlon with 4,299 points; he tallied marks of 7.71 in the 60m, 5.93m in the long jump, 10.55m in the shot put, 1.89m in the high jump, 9.92 in the 60m hurdles, 3.82m in the pole vault, and 2:53.03 in the 1000m
  • Josh Martin earned team points taking seventh in the mile with a time of 4:16.81 and sixth in the 1000m with a time of 2:32.83
  • Joel Matehs added a seventh place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.27
  • Jackson Harrison recorded the second all-conference honor of his meet, taking third in the 3000m with a time of 8:29.10
  • The 4x400m relay team of Matehs, Chase Domier, Carter Moller, and Seth Martens tallied a provisional time of 3:24.20 in fourth place

 

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Renea Taylor opened her day with an eighth place finish in the 60m hurdles, finishing in 9.04
  • The sophomore followed that with a runner-up placing in the 60m, breaking her own school record from the previous day with a provisional time of 7.46
  • Another school record fell a few races later as Mary Franssen grabbed a third place finish in the 1000m, running to a time of 2:58.46
  • Taylor closed out her individual events, taking fourth in the 200m with a personal best time of 24.72
  • The 4x400m relay team of Kyanna Collymore, Vanessa Klein, Alli Jackson, and Taylor took fourth overall, racing to a time of 3:55.55

 

BEYOND THE RESULTS

  • Taylor tallied all-conference honors in the 60m and moved up to 12thin the nation in the event and moved into the top-30 nationally in the 60m hurdles and 200m with her provisional times
  • Franssen nabbed all-conference accolades as well in the 1000m with her school record finish
  • Harrison tallied the sixth all-conference award of the meet for the Wolves with his finish in the 3000m
  • Max Vande Kieft just missed the placings in the triple jump notching a personal best of 13.52m
