Aberdeen Smittys 5-4

Aberdeen snagged a key 5-4 win over Huron in the 1st half of their DH Tuesday at Fossum Field. The Smittys trailed 2-0 & 4-3 before grabbing the triumph. The team was out-hit 6-5 and had twice the errors (4-2), but they drew two more walks (7-5). Each team hit two batters as well. Casey Vining shone in relief, tossing 3inn of hitless baseball to pick up the win. Brock Martin threw the first four frames, allowing 4R (2ER) on 6H w/ 6K & 3BB. At the plate, Ethan Kjenstad was 2/3 w/ a pair of doubles and 3RBI; while Nick Clemens had a 1/2 game w/ two runs, an RBI, and a walk.


Huron Post #7

Aberdeen Smittys 4-2

Game two saw Aberdeen finish off the sweep to conclude their games at Fossum Field this season, downing Huron, 4-2. Aberdeen held a 7-5 lead in hits as Drew Salfrank went 6.1inn on the bump to record the win. Salfrank gave up the two runs & five hits as well as five walks while whiffing six. Nick Clemens took care of the last two outs, striking out one. On offense, Josh Steinwandt hit one out while going 2/3 w/ two runs, a ribbie, a double, and a walk; and Carter Dingman was 2/3 w/ a run, a ribbie, and a double. Brock Martin & Drew Salfrank each plated a run as well. Aberdeen is now 21-18 on the season with six games to go before the playoffs.


Milbank Post #9

Groton 7-6

Groton was out-hit 6-4, but they still came out on top, sneaking past Milbank, 7-6. Milbank had two more errors in their loss, 3-1. Justus Osborn took the loss for Milbank, going the full 6inn and striking out six. Tate Larson plated three for Groton, while Osborn & Merik Junker each drove in a pair for Milbank.
