Aberdeen Wings Split Weekend at Northern Iowa

MASON CITY, IA (AberdeenWings.com) –

FRIDAY

Aberdeen Wings

North IA Bulls 2-0

The Wings dropped Friday night’s game to the North Iowa Bulls with a 2-0 shutout loss. The boys played hard but couldn’t get it past the Bulls’ goaltender Mitch Day along with tons of blocked shots from the Bulls.
A solid first period for the Wings as they outshot the Bulls 18 to 9. They had multiple good looks and scoring chances but couldn’t figure out North Iowa’s goaltender. With no penalties, it was an uneventful opening period as the score stayed 0-0.
The second period was a bit different, as the Bulls outshot the Wings 15 to 6. The Bulls were able to put two goals past Cole Moore. The first goal coming from Byron Hartley at the 12:36 mark as he was coming out of the penalty box sneaking one in making it a 1-0 game. The second goal came from Max Scott at the 18:52 mark making it a 2-0 game at the end of two.
The third period was much like the first where the Wings outshot the Bulls 13 to 5. Still, the Wings couldn’t get one through. Tons of opportunities for the Wings as they pulled Moore with over a minute left to play.
