District 2B Playoffs in Groton (day four)

Redfield DQ

Redfield Pheasants 8-7

The Pheasants won the battle of Redfield in walk-off fashion last night, 8-7. Jared Kuehn came through on a full count pitch, ripping a 2-out single that scored Keith Jandel from 2nd base to end the contest.

 

LOSERS BRACKET (“win & in” for State)

Northville Merchants 28-12 [8inn]

Groton Locke Electric

In a volatile battle to extend each team’s season, it was Northville moving on to the State Tourney with a 28-12 win over Groton. The 1st inning saw N’ville score 4x, only to have Groton answer w/ 5R. Groton added 5R again in the B3 for a 10-4 lead, but the Merchants then put a 5-spot on the board in the T4 to get within one. A big blow then came in the T5 w/ a 9-run inning to regain the lead at 18-10. Groton’s final 2R came in the bottom of the frame, and N’ville added three in the 7th & seven in the 8th.

 

District 1B Playoffs in Lake Norden

TITLE GAME

Volga Cormorants

Milbank Firechiefs 6-0

Milbank claimed the D1B Title w/ a 6-0 shut-out of Volga. The Cormorants scratched out 5H to the ‘chiefs’ eight, and the Cormorants committed three errors. Milbank put 2R on the board in the B1 and got a 4-spot in the 4th. Dom Boerger DOMinated again, going 9inn and piling up 20 K’s. It was Taylor Boerger backing his brother at the plate, picking up 3H in the win. Jacob Jackson plated a pair to help the cause.
