Class AA State Championship(s) @ Hillsview GC (Pierre, SD)

• After the first day of competition in the capital city in the State AA golf championship(s), the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles girls golf squad is within striking distance of Mitchell. As was anticipated by Central Golf Coach Kim Zimmerman, he thought that Central & Mitchell would be at, or near the top to duke it out for the Class AA title. The Golden Eagles got a stellar day from freshman Olivia Braun who carded a +1 over par, 73; she’s just three shots off first place Allison Meyerink, from Mitchell. Meyerink finished the day three shots under par, with a 69. Also of note, Emma Dohrer of the Golden Eagles shot +7 over par, she currently sits tied for 13^th place after day one.

Class A State Championship(s) @ Meadowbrook GC,(Rapid City, SD) 

• On the class A side, Aberdeen Roncalli’s Claire Crawford is the leader in the clubhouse after day one in Meadowbrook GC in Rapid City. The freshman, who qualified for last years’ state tournament as an 8^th grader, put together an 81 for the first day, shooting +9 over par. Rylan Horning of St. Thomas More is only one shot back, who will be nipping at her heels on Tuesday for the medalist. Collectively, the Cavaliers are in 8^th place, over 50 shots back of first place Sioux Falls Christian. Also of note, Groton Area is in 12^th place, collectively 138 shots over par.

Class B State Championship(s) @ Cattail Crossing (Watertown, SD) 

• Finally, from Cattail Crossing in Watertown for the State B title, Chester leads the field, as they’re seven shots ahead of the rest of the competition. However, the Miller Rustlers & Jayce Pugh are still battling and looking for a big second day and a chance at the top of the podium. Miller is 15 shots off first place Chester (currently in 3^rd after day one) and individually, freshman Jayce Pugh is only four shots back of first place after putting up a +8 over par, 80 for the first day. Allison Kahler from Bison/Hettinger/Scranton is the leader in the club house; she carded a +4 over par, 76 for the day. The Cyclone, Brynn Roehrich from Clark/WL finds herself in a tie for 4^th place, with a seven over. Also from the region, Clark/WL as a team sits in 7^th place while Faulkton is tied for 8^th with Castlewood + Selby Area is in 12^th & Webster Area finds themselves in a tie for 13^th
