MADISON, S.D. (PlayNorthStar.com) – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its second edition of the women’s and men’s cross-country runners-of-the-week Tuesday. Dakota State (S.D.) swept the weekly honors. Jacia Christiansen was selected as the Women’s Runner-of-the-Week. Alex Derr was chosen as the Men’s Runner-of-the-Week.
NSAA Women’s Cross-Country Runner-of-the-Week Jacia Christiansen–Dakota State (S.D.)–Senior–Viborg, S.D.–Christiansen was the top college runner in the 18th annual Herb Blakely Invitational for Dakota State (S.D.).She finished second with a time of 20 minutes, 29 seconds in the 5K race, which featured a hilly course and mostly grass. A total of 29 runners competed in the race.
NSAA Men’s Cross-Country Runner-of-the-Week Alex Derr–Dakota State (S.D.)–Senior–Sioux Falls, S.D.–Derr clocked a time of 27 minutes, 15 seconds to earn a runner-up honor at the 18th annual Herb Blakely Invitational for Dakota State (S.D.).He was the top North Star Athletic Association conference place finisher in the 8K race, which featured a total of 44 runners. Derr propelled the Trojans to its team title, their first home team title since the 2011 home meet.
