Elaine M. Schraeder, 77, of Faulkton, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton. Burial will take place in the Faulkton Cemetery.

Elaine M. Oestreich was born May 23, 1945, in Broadland, SD. She was one of eight children born to Rudolph and Ruth (Haugen) Oestreich. Elaine went to country school and in 1959 the family moved to Huron, where she continued her education.

In 1965, Elaine married Edwin Schroeder, to this union two children were born, Crystal in 1965 and Dawn in 1967. In 1972, they moved to Pierre. In 1980, Elaine started working as a waitress at the D & E Cafe, where she continued to work for the next 25 years. She loved her job and meeting new people.

In 1996, Elaine married Harvey Schraeder and throughout the next 26 years of their lives, life would take them to Bowdle where she worked at the nursing home and C-Store. After her retirement, they relocated to Faulkton. In her free time, Elaine loved to bake and visit her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elaine’s life will be cherished by her husband, Harvey; step-children: Kasey (Jackie) Schraeder, Kevin Schraeder and Konni (John) Giesen; grandchildren: Jered (Amber) Schraeder, and Avery and JoriAnn Allicson; three great grandchildren: Sutton, Weston and Layton; brothers: Kenny and Rudy Oestreich; sister, Carol Swearingen; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Vernon, Harold, Howard, and Phyllis; her beloved daughters: Crystal and Dawn; and stepson, Keith Schraeder.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Elaine’s arrangements.
