(NCAA.com) –

Sam Houston 24-20

SH’s Eric Schmid scored the game-winning TD on a 6y carry w/ 3:39 to go in a win over the defending FCS Champs of NDSU. The Bison drove to SH’s 17 yard line w/ 39sec to play, but turned it over on downs. The Bearkats narrowly stayed unbeaten despite numbers that said they should’ve run away w/ the win. They held a 313-229 lead in total yardage, along w/ a 3-0 TO advantage w/ two INT’s and a fumble recovery. Special Teams were the only real advantage for NDSU, as they ran back two KO’s for 101y and one score & four punts for 194y and another score!! After trailing 10-2 at the break and 17-2 in the 3Q, the Bison knotted things up heading into the 4Q. They took a 20-17 lead on a FG w/ 8:17 to go, but couldn’t keep that advantage.

Delaware 20-14

Jacksonville St.

J’ville State got a TD w/ 41sec to go, but it was too little, too late in a 20-14 loss to Delaware. The Fightin’ Blue Hens were up 14-0 at recess and held on from there w/ a couple of 2H FG’s. The Gamecocks were held in check by the D of Delaware, as they picked up a mere eight 1st downs to Delaware’s 24. The Blue Hens held a 374-200 advantage in total yards and each team coughed the ball up twice.

James Madison, VA 34-21

The Fighting Hawks saw their season come to a close w/ a 34-21 loss to James Madison. JMU held a 468-334 lead in yardage and a 2-1 advantage in TO’s.

Southern IL

SDSU 31-26

The Jacks came back from their first 13-point deficit of the season to make the semis w/ a 31-26 win over SIU. After a strong opening drive put them up 7-0, SDSU looked abysmal, falling behind 20-7. With just 22sec to go in the 1H, however, Isaiah Davis ran the kickoff back 50y just across midfield and the Jacks kicked a FG to get w/in 10 at the break while gaining some confidence. SDSU had dominated their opponents in the 2Q this season, outscoring them 72-10, but the Salukis turned the tables w/ a 13-3 2Q in this one.

In the 2H, Mark Gronowski turned things around, especially on the ground, as SDSU went on a 21-0 run that was capped off by a 67y TD run from Gronowski to take the lead w/ 11:41 to go. The drive started at SDSU’s 1yL after they stuffed a 4th & goal attempt from SIU. Davis tacked on a 4y TD run w/ 7:11 to play, making it 31-20, but the Salukis weren’t going to go quietly. They got w/in 5p on a TD toss to Landon Lenoir w/ 5:37 to play, and they were driving late but an INT from Michael Griffin at the 10yL w/ just 13sec to play gave the Jacks the win.

Stone Labanowitz went 25/36 for 247y, 1TD, and 2int w/ Lenoir his main target w/ 6r for 129y and the score.

Gronowski hit 9/16 targets for 183y & 2TD while tacking on 13c for 142y and a score. Jadon Janke had the two TD grabs for 49y.
