Final NCAA DII Hoops Regional Rankings Before Selection Show

The third and final edition of the NCAA Division II women’s basketball regional rankings were released Wednesday, and the NSIC continues to have three teams ranked in the central region. Minnesota Duluth is second, followed by Minnesota State in fourth, and Augustana in fifth, as they were in last week’s rankings.

The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 42-team NCAA Central Region again this year. The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 10-11, 13. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis. Minnesota Duluth locked in the NSIC automatic bid with its NSIC Tournament win on Tuesday night.

The NCAA Women’s Basketball Selection Show is on Sunday, March 5 at 9:30 p.m. (CT). The NCAA Elite Eight will take place on March 20-24 at The Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.

The final NCAA Division II men’s basketball regional rankings before Sunday’s selection show were released Wednesday afternoon, with the Northern State University Wolves landing at No. 2 in the Central Region. This installment of the regional rankings includes game played through Sunday, February 26, and does not include Northern’s semifinal contest against Minnesota Duluth.

The Wolves are joined by NSIC opponents No. 5 MSU Moorhead, No. 6 Minnesota Duluth, No. 8 Sioux Falls, and No. 9 Bemidji State. MSU Moorhead earned the automatic qualifier for the NSIC this week by winning the NSIC Tournament.
