  • The Patriots held Brenden Begeman in check most of the game & relied on Carter Binger to lead their multi-faceted offense to a 50-28 win over the Wolverines. Driving for a potential go ahead score in the 3rd quarter, HT’s Brendan Nowell ran back a 98-yard pick six to put momentum back on the Patriots’ side. HSA’s Brenden Begeman was nursing a hamstring injury, but still managed 189 yards, setting a new 9-man football all-time career rushing record on the final play of the game. Begeman hobbled off after the 21-yard run that gave him the new record of 6,807 yards – one more than Howard’s Luke Loudenburg. Begeman’s total for 2022 is 2,997 yards, which is a new single-season record as well. As for the State Championship, it’s the 3rd in Hitchcock-Tulare’s history w/ the prior wins in 1992 & 2009.
