How property tax reform could impact education

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- Tension is building as school officials worry about the outcome of efforts to reform South Dakota’s property tax system.

A legislative study committee recommended 19 options for lawmakers to consider during next year’s legislative session to provide property tax relief.

Sioux Falls School District business manager Todd Vik says several of those proposals target school funding.

The property tax is the primary source of school funding in the state.
