State Tourney in Sioux Falls – day 3/3

TITLE GAME

Brookings Rangers 2-0

Aberdeen Cougars

  • The 3-seed from Brookings took home the Girls Varsity Hockey State Title over top-seeded Aberdeen w/ a 2-0 triumph on Sunday. The Cougars had knocked off the Rangers twice in the regular season (5-2 & 5-3), but Brookings kept Aberdeen off the scoreboard despite getting out-shot 25-18. The Rangers scored twice on six power plays, while the Cougars were 0/4. Briella Van Dusseldorp got the scoring started at the 14’ mark of the 2nd period before Savannah Barber added the insurance tally w/ 4’ remaining in the game. Rorii Quam made all 25 saves for the win. Brookings lost to Aberdeen in the 3rd place game last season, 8-3.
