Class A Playoffs (round one – best of three)


14-Aberdeen Smittys

3-Mitchell 4-2

Aberdeen lost a heartbreaker to Mitchell in the 1st game of their best-of-three set, 4-2, on Friday. Casey Vining went 1/3 w/ a game-tying RBI in the T6, and Nick Clemens followed w/ the go-ahead RBI. Mitchell responded, however, by scoring 3x in the B6, as they took advantage of some Aberdeen errors to score two unearned runs. Brock Martin pitched beautifully, going 5.2 and allowing the 4R on just one hit w/ 3K & 5BB. At the dish, Drew Salfrank went 1/3 w/ a run scored, and Vining scored the other Aberdeen run. The team had three errors in the loss.


Region 1B Tourney in Webster (day three)



Big Stone City win




Milbank 12-2 [6inn]

Milbank punched its ticket to State w/ a 12-2 run-rule win over the rivals from Big Stone. Post #9 didn’t commit an error in the contest and limited BSC to just four hits. Merik Junker drove in three on three hits, while Kaden Krause tossed 5inn and piled up 10K.

3-Mitchell 10-2

Mitchell ended Aberdeen’s season on Saturday, coming out strong early in a 10-2 win. The Smittys scored twice in the B1 to tie the game, but they couldn’t keep up with the host squad after that. Mitchell put 5R on the board in the 2nd and held Aberdeen to just two hits in the game. The Smittys also added four errors. Drew Salfrank struggled in the start, recording just three outs and allowing 6R (5ER) on 6H w/ 1K. Aiden Richardson was 1/2 w/ an RBI & a walk, while Salfrank went 1/4 at the plate w/ a run scored and a stolen bag. Casey Vining scored the other Aberdeen run. Aberdeen’s season comes to a close w/ a mark of 22-23 overall.
