ST. PAUL, MN (NSUWolves.com) – The 2022-23 D2CCA NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball All-Central Region First and Second Teams have been announced as voted upon by College Sports Communicators (CSC) from the region. The Central Region consists of 42 men’s basketball teams from the Northern Sun (16 teams), Mid-America (14 teams) and Great American (12 teams) conferences. Northern State University senior guard Sam Masten was named to the first team and will move to the All-America ballot.
Masten leads Northern State averaging 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. He shoots a team best 55.8% from the floor, as well as 40.2% from the 3-point line and 79.4% from the foul line. The Colorado native has scored double figures in every contest this season, recording three double-doubles and one triple double. In addition, Masten sits top-10 in the country in assist/turnover ratio, total assists, and triple-doubles. In 2022-23, Masten is a 6-time NSIC Player of the Week, D2CIDA National Player of the Week, CSC Academic All-District team member, the NSIC North Division Player of the Year, and a first team All-NSIC selection.
Each of the five D2CCA All-Central Region First Team selections will now be listed on the D2CCA Men’s Basketball All-America ballot, which will be voted on by the CoSIDA Division II membership with the announcement of those All-American teams expected on the afternoon of Monday, March 20.
