St. Cloud, MN (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State baseball team was unable to pick up a win in Tuesday’s NSIC doubleheader at St. Cloud State, falling to the Huskies by scores of 8-2 and 11-3 at Joe Faber Field. SCSU out-hit NSU in both contests, 7-5 and 11-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
- Zach Carolin made his ninth start of the season on the mound for Northern State and set the tone early with a pair of 3-up, 3-down innings to open the game
- St. Cloud State tallied their first two hits of the game in the bottom of the third leading to four runs in the inning off a 2-RBI double to left center and a 2-RBI single up the middle to put SCSU in front 4-0
- The Huskies added one run in the bottom of the fourth off a sacrifice fly to center field and plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI single to left field and a 2-RBI single to center field that pushed the St. Cloud State lead to 8-0 after five innings of play
- After reaching base safely on a fielding error to leadoff the top of the sixth inning, Austin Portner was able to come around and score the Wolves first run of the game on an RBI double down the right field line by Niko Pezonella
- Jack Miller, who entered in relief in the bottom of the fourth, put an end to theSCSU momentum with a 3-up, 3-down bottom of the sixth inning after they had scored in three consecutive innings midway through the contest
- Northern capped the scoring in game one at 8-2 an inning later as Connor Knecht hit an RBI single down the left field line to score Mateo Tahsini pinch running for Easton Rerick who had knocked a leadoff double to left field to open the top of the seventh
- Carolin (1-5) suffered the loss on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings in the outing with one strikeout
- Northern State scored their two runs off five hits and committed one error defensively

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
- Northern State was the first to score in game two as an RBI single to center field by Kai Brisk in the top of the third allowed Jack Paulson to round third and cross the plate after knocking a double to left center two at-bats earlier
- St. Cloud State evened the game at one run apiece in the bottom of the third with a run scored on a wild pitch
- A 2-run homerun to right field in the bottom of the fourth gave the Huskies their first lead of the game at 3-1
- The Wolves were able to tie the game once again in the top of the fifth, as Paulson and Niko Pezonella each reached base on singles to right field before a double to right center by Brisk brought both of them home to tie the game at three
- SCSU regained the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth with three runs off an RBI sacrifice fly and a 2-RBI double down the right field line to grab a 6-3 lead
- The Huskies extended the lead to 8-3 with a 2-RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the seventh
- SCSU capped the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the eighth on a pair of RBI singles and an RBI sacrifice fly to push the lead to 11-3
- Cooper Tessendorf made his second start of the season and pitched 4.0 innings while throwing a pair of strikeouts in the contest; Tyler Boyum (0-1) suffered the loss on the mound while he made his eighth relief appearance of the season and pitched 2.0 innings in the outing
- Northern State scored their three runs off ten hits and committed one error defensively
