NSU MBB Team Gets Back on Track with Pair of Home Wins on NSIC Scoreboard

The Northern State University men’s basketball team out-scored their opponents by 17 and hit triple digits in their Friday win over Minnesota State. The win is the tenth of the season for the Wolves in NSIC action and bounces them back from a weekend sweep on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Northern was on pace to score in triple digits, leading 58-39 at the half and shooting at a 70.4% clip
  • The Mavericks ultimately out-scored the Wolves in the second, 48-46, however it was not enough to overcome the hot start by NSU
  • The Wolves shot 56.5% from the floor and 44.1% from the 3-point line in the win, knocking down another 19-of-24 from the free throw line
  • NSU tallied 34 points in the paint, 11 second chance points off eight offensive boards, and 11 points off the bench
  • They added a game high 15 made 3-pointers, as well as 19 assists, five blocks, and eight steals
  • Five Wolves scored in double figures in the win, led by Jacksen Moni and Josh Dilling with 22 points apiece; a career high for Dilling
  • In addition, three Wolves tallied five or more rebounds in the game where Northern tallied 32 as a team

The Northern State University men’s basketball team completed their weekend sweep on Saturday, defeating Concordia-St. Paul 75-67 from Wachs Arena. The Golden Bears stormed back in the second; however, the Wolves held off the CSP attack and finished the game shooting 42.9% from the floor and 40.6% from the 3-point line.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Northern tallied 46 points in the first and 29 in the second, knocking down a game high 13 made 3-pointers
  • The scored 26 points in the paint and 11 points off 11 forced turnovers
  • They were efficient with the ball, giving up just six turnovers in the win, and tallied four steals on defense
  • The Wolves tallied 35 rebounds, as well as a game high 16 assists and three blocks
  • Augustin Reede led three in double figures with 25 points, knocking down 7-of-13 from beyond the arc
  • Jacksen Moni pulled down a team leading 12 rebounds, notching a career high in the process

  • A career-high 32 points from Jordan Janssen helped the long-time Wildcat become the all-time leading scorer in Wayne State College hoops history. Janssen passed up Grady Hansen w/ a bucket in the 1st half, eclipsing the ’83 grad’s total of 1,942 points in a WSC uniform.
