NSU MBB Team Signs Third Recruit for 2022-23

ABERDEEN, SD (NSUWolves.com) – Northern State University head men’s basketball coach Saul Phillips announced the addition of Tobi Obiora to the 2022-23 roster. Obiora joins the class of Ian Motschenbacher and Micahel Nhial.

“Tobi is an extremely unique prospect,” explained Phillips. “He is extremely long and very physically mature for an 18 year-old. We were fortunate to have someone bring him to our attention and I was blown away by the things he was doing on film.”

Obiora is a 6’8”, 220-pound forward out of Bilthoven, Utrecht in the Netherlands. He attended the Centre for Sports & Education and played as a member of the U18 and U20 Netherlands national team. His team finished as the National Cup runner-up. He is the son of Annemarie Hulst and Fabian Obiora.

“He has great touch for his size, passes well and can really disrupt on the defensive end with his massive wingspan,” Phillips added. “His upside as a basketball player is sky high. He is excited to play in the United States and we are elated to have him.”
