NSU T&F Weekend Recap From Brookings

Brookings, SD (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University track and field teams took on the SDSU Indoor Classic on Saturday, competing against a number of area Division I and Division II student-athletes. The Wolves came away with 19 top-15 finishes from the meet on day two. The Wolves women took 15th with 13 team points, while the men took 21st with seven team points.

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Nick Olson tallied a 16thplace finish in the weight throw, tossing 16.39m, and ninth place finish in the shot put, throwing 14.74m
  • Ethan Barnett added a 14thplace finish in the shot put, throwing 14.29m
  • Glen Quayle was the top Division II placer in the pole vault, notching a 4.90m mark in third place overall
  • Sam Tremelling added a tenth place finish in the pole vault, clearing 4.45m, followed by Eli Radtke in 16th, clearing 4.30m
  • Landing in the top-10, Josh Martin took ninth in the mile with a time of 4:11.88
  • Dylan Schinke tallied a 14thplace finish in the 600m with a time of 1:25.39
  • The men’s 4x400m relay team of Joel Matehs, Carter Moller, Martin, and Seth Martens tallied a 13thplace finish with a time of 3:28.54

 

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Kenzee Danielson tallied a sixth place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.60m, while Bethany Dybdahl and Makenna Glanzer took 12thwith 3.30m jumps
  • Morgan Sheldon recorded a 15thplace finish in the high jump, clearing 1.55m
  • Cassidy Gough led the throwers in the weight throw, tossing 15.60m in 13thplace overall
  • Sierra Sweeney just missed the top-10 in the triple jump, notching a mark of 10.71m in 12thoverall
  • Renea Taylor was just shy of her school record in the 60m, recording a runner-up finish with a time of 7.58
  • Taylor added a top-10 finish in the 200m, taking eighth with a provisional time of 24.76
  • Summer Carlson and Alli Jackson took tenth and 11thin the 600m with times of 1:41.37 and 1:41.67
  • Mary Franssen added an 11thplace finish in the 800m, crossing the finish line in a school record 2:17.80
  • The 4x400m relay team of Kyanna Collymore, Vanessa Klein, Jennifer Clark, and Taylor took tenth with a time of 3:58.81

BEYOND THE RESULTS

  • The 4.90m vault for Quayle is a season best and moves him up to 19thnationally in the event
  • Franssen and teammate Jennifer Clark have traded the 800m school record over the years, with Franssen grabbing it with her 11thplace finish

Northern will take on their final regular season meet of the 2022-23 indoor season next Friday at the SDSU Last Chance. Competition kicks off at 12:30 p.m. from the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
