NSU WBB Team Lands Two on All-Conference Teams

BURNSVILLE, MN (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) released the 2022-23 women’s basketball all-conference teams on Thursday morning with Kailee Oliverson representing Northern State on the first team and Laurie Rogers being named to the second team. This marks the second consecutive year that Oliverson has been named to the All-NSIC First Team, while Rogers earned her first All-NSIC honor of her career.

Oliverson is leading Northern State with 15.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this season and has been on a hot streak in the past 12 games by averaging 20.0 points and 10.9 rebounds in those contests. In NSIC play she ranked 12th in the scoring with 15.3 points and fourth in rebounding with 8.0 rebounds per game. To go along with her points and rebounds she is averaging 1.1 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game this season. Oliverson has shot the ball 44.8 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from 3-point range, and 82.7 percent from the free throw line. She has recorded eight double-doubles this season with four occurring in the team’s last five games, however none as impressive as her 34 point and 17 rebound performance in NSIC Tournament First Round game against Upper Iowa where she set career-highs for both stat categories. In total the Cardwell, Montana native has notched nine games of 20 or more points this season, eight games with ten or more rebounds, and six games with two or more blocked shots. Oliverson also earned NSIC North Division Player of the Week honors on February 13th following a weekend sweep of Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston.

Rogers has added 11.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Wolves this season and has led the team with 2.3 blocked shots per game. She has been shooting the ball 47.9 percent from the field and 75.9 percent from the free throw line this season. Rogers has notched six double-doubles this season while totaling 19 games in double figures scoring, eight games with ten or more rebounds, and 11 games with three or more blocked shots. She led the NSIC with 2.3 blocked shots per game in conference match-ups during her senior season, while ranking second in NCAA Division II with 67 total blocks and sixth nationally with 2.31 blocks per game during the regular season. The Aberdeen native set a new career-high in points with 23 in a win at Minnesota Crookston, while also tallying season-highs of 14 rebounds (vs. Wayne State), four assists (six times, most recent at UMary), and eight blocked shots (at Sioux Falls) this season. Rogers also earned NSIC North Division Player of the Week honors on November 21st after a pair of wins over MSU Moorhead and South Dakota Mines.
