Saints Fall In Yankton in 2022 Finale

YANKTON, SD (PCSaints.com) – The Saints lost their final non-conference game today to the Lancers from Mount Marty University by a score of 49-64. The Saints fall to 1-11 on the season and are 0-1 in the North Star Athletic Association.

The Saints and Lancers played back and forth in the first quarter after the holiday break.  There was three lead changes in the quarter and a tie. The host Lancers took a one point lead into the second quarter.

Kayla Carman (SO/Gallatin, TN) hit a jumper to give the Saints the lead early in the second quarter. Mount Marty took the lead with just under three minutes gone in the quarter. The host built up a six point lead going into halftime.

The Lancers came out of the locker room at half time and outscored the Saints in the third quarter by 16 points. The Saints trailed 29-51 going into the final quarter.

In the final quarter the Saints continued to fight putting up their game high of 20 points in this quarter. Kanae Carman had six of her 16 total points in the quarter. D’Asia Washington (JR/Oklahoma City, OK) also had six points in the quarter.

By the Numbers…

Kanae Carman (SO/Gallatin, TN) led the Saints with 16 points in the game. Emma Ogitchida (SR/St. Paul, MN) and Grace Lupumba (JR/Twin Falls, ID) both had seven rebounds. Ogitchida also had three steals. The Saints shot 31.7% from the field, 8.3% from behind the arch and 53.3% from the free throw line.

Next up for the Saints is a conference double header weekend. They will travel to La Crosse WI on Friday and take on Viterbo University at 5:30 PM. The Saints will wrap up their weekend in Forest City, IA against Waldorf University at 3:00 PM.
