Saints Offense Struggles vs. Bruins

Aberdeen, SD ( – The Presentation College Saints wrapped up their NSAA series with the Bellevue University Bruins on Monday at home on the Presentation College Football Field. In the first game of the day the Saints fell to the Bruins by a score of 0-11 in five innings. In the final game of the series the Saints lost 1-9 in six innings. Presentation is now 10-24 and 6-14 in the NSAA.

Game #1

Bellevue started game one with a run in the first inning. Bella Pinotti (JR/Las Vegas, NV) hit a triple after two outs in the home half of the inning but was stranded on third base. The Saints limited the Bruins offense to a walk in the second inning. The Saints had a Chloe Dominger (JR/Grant Pass, OR) walk in the bottom half. In the third inning the Bruins scored three runs. Sydney Carter (FR/Sacramento, CA) drew a walk for the Saints but was doubled up in a double play to end the inning. The Bruins had a four run lead after three innings.

Bellevue’s bats came alive in the fourth inning putting up seven runs. Camille Vestal (JR/Madera, CA)’s single was the only offense for the Saints in the fourth inning. The Saints limited the Bruins to one hit in the fifth inning. In the home half Presentation went down in order and ending the game with the run rule. Saints 0 Bruins 11 in five innings in game one of the day.

Game #2

Bellevue started game two like game one with a run to start the second game of the doubleheader. The Saints answered back with a single run in the home half to keep the game tied. Cassy Loa (JR/San Diego, CA) started off with a walk. Breanna Dunn (JR/Valley Springs, CA) reached base on a fielder’s choice. Bella Pinotti reached base on another fielder’s choice. Camille Vestal then doubled to score Pinotti and advanced to third on the throw. The inning ended with Vestal on third base. The Bruins added another run in the second inning. The Saints went down in order in the home half of the second inning. Bellevue scored three more runs in the third inning. Sydney Carter singled to start the inning for Presentation. Carter then stole second. After an out Carter advanced to third on a wild pitch. Carter was left on third to end the third inning. After three innings of play the score was Saints 1 Bruins 5.

Bellevue added two more runs in the fourth inning. The Saints went down in order in the home half of the inning. In the fifth inning the Saints returned the favor to the Bruins get them out in order. For the second straight inning the Saints went down in order in the fifth. In the sixth inning the Bruins added two more runs. After a Cassy Loa single to begin the inning the Saints went down in order.

The final in the second game of the day and final game of the series was Saints 1 Bruins 9 in six innings.

Next up for Presentation is a trip to La Crosse, WI. scheduled for Saturday and Sunday next weekend. This will be the final regular season NSAA contest for the Saints with the announcement of the school shutting down later this summer.
