Saints Softball Players Stellar In Classroom

KANSAS CITY, MO (playnorthstar.com) – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2023 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar-Athletes Wednesday.  The 2023 list features 1,131 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution.

A total of forty-one (41) athletes from the North Star Athletic Association were named to Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar-Athletes.  Bellevue (Neb.) leads the NSAA conference with nine softball athletes on the list, followed by Mayville State (N.D.) with eight scholar-athletes.  Valley City State (N.D.) landed seven recipients to the prestigious academic award, while Dakota State (S.D.) and Presentation (S.D.) each registered six recipients.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
