Aberdeen SD (PCSaints.com) – The Presentation College Saints swept a doubleheader from the Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan University. The Saints first game ended in the bottom of the sixth when they plated their 15 run to kick in the eight run rule. In the second game there was more drama and the Saints walked off the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh inning 13-12. The Saints improve to 3-5 on the season overall.
Game #1
The Saints got off to a quick start in the bottom of the first inning after holding the Tigers off the scoreboard in the top half. Sarah Shevenell (JR/Madera, CA) doubled a base clearing pitch into center field for three RBIs. Chloe Dominger (JR/Grant Pass, OR) than homered to bring in Sarah from second and give the Saints a five nothing lead after one inning. The Tigers did answer back in the top of the second inning with a homerun of their own and two more runs driven in later in the inning.
In the fourth inning Cassy Loa (JR/San Diego, CA) doubled to score a run, Breanna Dunn (JR/Valley Springs, CA) tripled to score Cassy Loa. Camille Vestal (JR/Madera, CA) singled to score Dunn. The Saints pushed their lead back to five after four innings of play. In the sixth the Tigers scored four runs to start the inning and close the gap to 7 to 8. The bats came alive for the Saints in the bottom half of the inning. Camille Vestal came up with the bases loaded and hit a homerun to clear the bases. Yulissa Pena (SR/Palmdale, CA) then singled in a run and to finish the game by the run rule Raquel Malacas (SR/Lanai, HI) singled in two runs to give the Saints the 15 to 7 victory in game 1.

Game #2
The Saints kept up their offensive firepower in the first inning of game number two. Breanna Dunn reached first on a throwing error and Cassy Loa scored on the play. Camille Vestal flew out to right field to score Dunn. Yulissa Pena finished the scoring with a double in to center field scoring Chloe Dominger. The Saints had a three nothing lead after one inning. In the second inning much like game number one the Tigers answered back with five runs on their own to take the lead over the Saints. In the bottom half of the inning Cassy Loa scored off of a Camille Vestal single. Sarah Shevenell evened the game up with a single to center to score Breanna Dunn. The score was tied after two innings of play.
The third inning was scoreless for either side. In the top of the fourth the Tigers scored a single run to take the lead again. In the bottom half of the fourth the bats came alive again for the Saints. Sarah Shevenell started the scoring with and RBI. Chloe Dominger then singled in Shevenell. Victoria Vau (SR/Ukiah, CA) then singled in Chloe Dominger. Raquel Malacas then singled in Yulissa Pena. Cassy Loa hit a single and scored Bella Pinotti (JR/Las Vegas, NV). The final scoring play in the inning was a sacrifice fly by Camille Vestal scoring Victoria Vau. In all the Saints batted around in the bottom of the fourth inning to take an 11 to six lead into the fifth inning.
The fifth inning was scoreless for both sides again. The Tigers erupted in the top of the sixth inning putting up six runs in the inning and taking a 12 to 11 lead into the bottom of the sixth. In the bottom half the Saints were able to push a single run across to tie the score up again at 12s. The run was scored off of a sacrifice fly from Camille Vestal to score Cassy Loa. In the top half of the seventh Lauren Paredes held the Tigers off of the scoreboard setting up the Saints with a chance to walk off the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh. The first two Saints in the inning both got out. Bella Pinotti then doubled into center field with the Saints down to their final out before extra innings. Pinotti then got to third base off of a passed ball setting up the game’s final play. Victoria Vau reach first base on an error by the first basemen and Pinotti scored the game winning run. Final score Saints 13 Tigers 12. All nine hitters had a least one hit in the second game today.

Next up for the Saints is a week off after starting the season with tournaments and action every weekend. The Saints will be in action on the road the weekend of Spring Break in McPherson, KS. in the McPherson College Classic. The Saints will be taking on teams they have never played before. On Friday March 10th they will start action at 9 AM against Evangel University. Later that day they will take on Baker University at 11:15 AM. On Saturday March 11th they will start their day with Bethel College at 9 AM. Later that day they will play Baker for a second time at 1:30 PM.
