Saints Softballer Earns Player Of The Week

BISMARCK, ND (PlayNorthStar.com) – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced their sixth edition of the softball Players-of-the-Week Monday.  Ari Martinez of Dickinson State (N.D.) was chosen as the Pitcher-of-the-Week.  Victoria Vau of Presentation (S.D.) was selected as the Player-of-the-Week.

Ari Martinez – Dickinson State (N.D.) – sophomore – pitcher – Arleta, Calif. – Martinez tossed a complete game shutout in Dickinson State’s (N.D.) 3-0 victory over Viterbo (Wis.) in the four-game series finale, finishing the series with a 3-1 record.  She scattered seven hits and did not issue a walk in the pitching circle for the Blue Hawks.  Martinez also registered five strikeouts.

Victoria Vau – Presentation (S.D.) – senior – catcher – Ukiah, Calif. – Vau produced a batting average of .571 and a slugging percentage of .857 as Presentation (S.D.) went 3-1 record for the week.  She was 8-of-14 at the plate with a home run, double, and six singles.  Vau collected three multi-hit games during the week and drove in six runs.  She scored four times and swiped one base.  Vau was perfect defensively (1.000 fielding percentage) where she did not commit an error in 17 chances, recording 16 put-outs and an assist.
