Saints Swept In La Crosse Against V-Hawks

La Crosse, WI (PCSaints.com) –  The Presentation College Saints traveled to Wisconsin to take on the V-Hawks of Viterbo University. In game one the Saints fell by a score of 1 to 17. In the second game of the day the Saints fell by two runs with a score of Saints 4 V-Hawks 6. The Saints are now 0-36 and 0-22 in the NSAA.

Game #1

Both teams started the game with strong pitching both sides going three up three down. In the second inning the Saints got a walk from Trent White (FR/Middleburg, FL). The V-Hawks did the same as the Saints and got a solo walk in the second inning. In the third inning Wolf’Don Thorson (SR/Bottineau, ND) reached base on an error for the Saints. Viterbo scored 10 runs in the third inning.

The Saints went down in order in the fourth inning. The V-Hawks added another seven runs in the fourth inning. Presentation went down in order in the fifth inning. The Saints held the V-Hawks off the score board in the fifth inning. After a Saints out Dawson Barson (JR/Logan, UT) was hit by a pitch. After another Saints out Ethan Leech (SR/Casper, WY) double to right advancing Barson to third. Evyn Booth (JR/Phoenix, AZ) singled to score Barson and advanced Leech to third. Booth stole second base. Kolby Wagatsuma (FR/Pearl City, HI) walked to load the bases. The Saints left the bases loaded in the top of the sixth. For the second straight inning Presentation kept Viterbo from scoring in the sixth.

After two outs in the seventh inning Wolf’Don Thorson was hit by a pitch. The final score in the game was Saints 1 V-Hawks 17.

Presentation went down in order to begin the second game. Viterbo was limited to one hit in the bottom of the first inning. For the second inning the Saints went down in order. The V-Hawks scored a single run in the second inning. Louie Martinez (JR/Pueblo, CO) singled to start the third inning for the Saints. The single was the only offense for the Saints in the third inning. The V-Hawks scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning.

After a Saints out Evyn Booth doubled. Wolf’Don Thorson then homered to score two runs. Ethan Leech then singled to keep the Saints offense going. Trent White then walked to advance Leech to second. After an out Trevor Ball (JR/Erie, CO) singled to score Leech and advance White to second. That was all the more offense the Saints had in the fourth inning. The Saints got the V-Hawks to go three up three down in the forth. After four innings of play the game was tied at three runs. After an out to begin the inning Matthew Womack (SR/Houston, TX) singled. Womack advanced to second on a passed ball. Evyn Booth then doubled to score Womack. The single run was all the offense the Saints had in the fifth inning. In the home half of the fifth inning the Saints gave up a walk but erased the baserunner on a strike them out throw them out play. The final out of the inning was a ground out.

In the sixth inning the Saints went down in order. The V-Hawks scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take back a two run lead. In the seventh inning after a Saints out Dawson Barson walked. After another Saints out Evyn Booth walked to move Barson to second. That was all the offense for the Saints. They dropped the second game by a score of 4 to 6.

La Crosse, WI (PCSaints.com) – The Presentation College wrapped up their weekend series with Viterbo University V-Hawks today in Wisconsin. The Saints lost game one by a score of Saints 7 V-Hawks 17. In the final game of the series the Saints lost to the V-Hawks 5-8. Presentation are now 0-38 overall and 0-24 in the NSAA.

Game #1

The Saints went down in order in the first inning. The V-Hawks started off by scoring six runs in the first inning. In the second inning after a Saints out Ethan Leech (SR/Casper, WY) singled to reach first base. This single was the only Saints offense in the second inning. The Saints limited the V-Hawks to a single double in the second inning. For Presentation in the third inning the only offense was a walk by Cobi Woodfin (FR/Christoval, TX). Viterbo added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning. After three innings of play the V-Hawks were up by eight runs.

Evyn Booth (JR/Phoenix, AZ) double to begin the fourth inning. Wolf’Don Thorson (SR/Bottineau, ND) sacrificed bunted to move Booth to third. Booth was able to score the Saints first run off of a passed ball. Ethan Leech then walked. The Saints left Leech on first in the fourth inning. The V-Hawks were able to load the bases up in the fourth inning but the Saints did not allow a run. The fifth inning started with a single for Trevor Ball (JR/Erie, CO). Ball was then awarded second on a balk. Blake Portalski (JR/Tacoma, WA) singled and advanced to second on a throwing error and Ball advanced to third base. Dawson Barson (JR/Logan, UT) reached on a fielder’s choice with Ball scoring. Barson then advanced to second on a passed but was left there in the inning. In the bottom of the fifth the Saints got the V-Hawks to go three up three down.

In the sixth inning Wolf’Don Thorson led off with single. Ethan Leech then followed it up with a single of his own. Trent White (FR/Middleburg, FL) then grounded out but did advance Thorson to third and Leech to second. Gavin Lim (FR/Guam) walked to load the bases. After a Saints out Blake Portalski then walked in a run scoring Thorson as everyone else moved up a base. Cobi Woodfin entered the game to run for Portalski. Dawson Barson then drew another walk and RBI with Leech scoring and everyone else advancing another base. Matthew Womack (SR/Houston, TX) singled to score Lim and Woodfin while advancing Barson to third base. Matthew Womack then stole second. Evyn Booth walked to put Saints on the bases but that was the last of the offense in the sixth for the Saints. In the bottom of the sixth the V-Hawks answered back with three runs of their own. After six innings of play the score was Saints 6 V-Hawks 11.

In the seventh inning the Saints started with an Ethan Leech walk. After an out Gavin Lim then walked to advance Leech to second base. Trevor Ball then walked to load the bases with Saints. Kolby Wagatsuma (FR/Pearl City, HI) entered the game for Blake Portalski and filed out on a sacrifice to score Leech and advance Lim to third base. This was all the offense for the Saints in the seventh inning. Viterbo scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. In the eighth inning the Saints went down in order. In the bottom the V-Hawks scored two runs to invoke the run rule and end the game. The final score of the game was Saints 7 V-Hawks 17.

Dawson Barson led off game number two with a single. Matthew Womack followed it up with a single of his own advancing Barson to second. Evyn Booth reached on a fielding error to load the bases with Saints. After a Saints out Kolby Wagatsuma singled to score Barson and Womack with Booth advancing to third base. Cobi Woodfin entered as a pinch runner for Wagatsuma. Ethan Leech had a sacrifice fly to score Booth. That was the last run for the Saints to begin the game. In the home half of the inning the V-Hawks matched the Saints runs with three. Trevor Ball’s walk was the Saints only offense in the second inning. Viterbo was limited to one hit in the bottom half. Evyn Booth walked to begin the third inning after two Saints outs Ethan Leech reached on a fielder’s choice with Booth advancing to second. This was all the offense for the Saints in the third. Presentation got Viterbo to go three up three down in the third inning. The game was tied at three after three innings of play.

In the fourth the host team returned the favor getting the Saints to go three up three down in the fourth. Viterbo then added three more runs of their own in the home half. After a Saints out Evyn Booth walked. After another Saints out Kolby Wagatsuma doubled to score Booth. That was all the Saints offense in the fifth inning. Viterbo only drew a single walk in the bottom of the fifth inning. In the sixth inning the Saints went down in order. Viterbo added two more runs in their half of the inning.

Matthew Womack homered after a Saints out. Evyn Booth walked for the third time in the game. Colton Schusted (SR/Braham, MN) reached on a fielder’s choice. Kolby Wagatsuma walked to advance Schusted to second. That was the end of the Saints offense in the inning and game. The Saints fell in game two by a score of 5-8.

Next Up for the Saints is a busy week with a mid-week game planned against Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D. on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 5 PM. The final conference series ever for Presentation College is set to begin on Friday against the Blue Hawks of Dickinson State University. The series is schedule to take place in Aberdeen, S.D. but at this time there is uncertainty of the games location.
