Saints Swept On Senior Day

Aberdeen, SD (PCSaints.com) – The Presentation College Saints took on the Bellevue University Bruins in a double header on Senior Day. The Saints honored three seniors after the games. The seniors were Lauren Paredes (SR/Moorpark, CA), Raquel Malacas (SR/Lanai, HI), and Yulissa Pena (SR/Palmdale, CA). In game one of the day the Saints fell to the Bruins by a score of 1-2. In the second game of the day the final score was Saints 2 Bruins 7. The Saints are now 10-22 overall and 6-12 in the NSAA.

Game #1

The Bruins only had a single in the first inning. The Saints went down in order in the home half. In the second inning the Bruins scored two runs. Sarah Shevenell (JR/Madera, CA)’s single was the only offense for the Saints in the second. Bellevue had three hits in the third and left two runners on base with no runs scored. In the home half Victoria Vau (SR/Ukiah, CA) led off with a single. After two Saints outs Breanna Dunn (JR/Valley Springs, CA) singled advancing Vau to second but the offense stalled there. After three innings of play the visiting Bruins had a two run lead.

Bellevue only managed a walk in the fourth inning. In the bottom of the inning the Saints went down in order. The Saints limited the Bruins to one hit and two left on base in the fifth inning. Bella Pinotti (JR/Las Vegas, NV) started the home half with a single. Pinotti then advanced to second on a wild pitch. After two Saints outs Cassy Loa (JR/San Diego, CA) singled to score Pinotti. Breanna Dunn reached first on an error advancing Loa to second but that was all the offense for the Saints in the fifth. In the sixth inning the Saints got the Bruins out in order. The Bruins returned the favor in the home half. After six innings the score was Saints 1 Bruins 2.

In the final inning the Bruins managed a walk. The Saints went down in order to finish the game. The final score of game one was Saints 1 Bruins 2.

Game #2

Bellevue had the bases loaded in the first inning but the Saints held them off the scoreboard. Cassy Loa led off with a single for the Saints. Breanna Dunn sacrificed Loa to second base. Loa then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Camille Vestal (JR/Madera, CA) then grounded out to score Loa. Sarah Shevenell had a single for the Saints last hit in the inning. The Bruins worked two walks in the second but left both of them on base in the inning. Bella Pinotti single was the only offense for the Saints in the second inning. The Saints held the Bruins off the scoreboard for the third inning in a row. Cassy Loa led of another inning for the Saints this time with a double. Breanna Dunn then sacrificed Loa to third. After an out Sarah Shevenell then singled to score Loa for the Saints last hit in the third inning. After three innings the Saints led by two runs.

Bellevue got on the scoreboard and tied the game up with two runs in the fourth inning. Victoria Vau’s single in the fourth was the only Saints offense. The Bruins took the lead in the fifth inning with a single run. Cassy Loa walked to start the fifth inning. After a Saints out Loa stole second and third base. The Saints could not bring Loa home from third base in the fifth. In the sixth inning the Bruins added two more runs. The Saints went down in order in the sixth inning. After six innings of play the score was Saints 2 Bruins 6.

In the seventh inning Bellevue added one more insurance run to their total. The Saints went down in order to end the second game on senior day by a score of Saints 2 Bruins 7.

Next up for the Saints will be a Monday doubleheader with the Bruins to wrap up this series.  Presentation will begin the doubleheader at noon on the Presentation College football field. The Saints are scheduled to play Viterbo University next weekend in La Crosse, WI.
