Saints Take One of Four In La Crosse

La Crosse, WI (PCSaints.com) – The Presentation College Saints traveled to La Crosse WI. to take on the V-Hawks of Viterbo University for the final time ever this weekend. There was three games played on Saturday due to weather forecasted for Sunday. In the first game of three the Saints fell by a score of 1-6. In the second game of the day the final score was Saints 2 V-Hawks 10 in six innings. In the final game of three the Saints beat the host V-Hawks by a score of 6-3. The Saints are now 11-24 overall and 7-16 in the NSAA.

Game #1

The Saints got off to a slow start going down in order to start the game. In the home half of the inning the V-Hawks scored five of their six runs on the day. The Saints continued their struggles in the second inning with the same results of three up three down. The Saints limited the V-Hawks to one hit in the second inning. After an out to begin the third inning the Saints got Sydney Carter (FR/Sacramento, CA) and Isabella Proctor (FR/San Tan Valley, AZ) on via walks but could not get any more offense in the inning. Presentation sat down Viterbo in order thanks to a double play in third inning. After three innings the host school was up by five runs.

In the fourth inning both teams had an error allowing single baserunners but nothing more. After an out in the fifth inning the Saints broke up the no hitter in with a homerun off the bat of Victoria Vau (SR/Ukiah, CA). Sydney Carter followed the homerun with a walk. After another out Cassy Loa (JR/San Diego, CA) had the Saints only other hit for a single but the Saints left both Carter and Loa on base in the fifth inning. The Saints held the V-Hawks off the scoreboard again in the fifth inning for fourth inning in a row. After the offense in the fifth the Saints went down in order in the sixth inning.  The V-Hawks added their final run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Presentation went down in order again to finish the game. Final score of game one Saints 1 V-Hawks 6.

Game #2

Cassy Loa led off game two with a double for the Saints. Breanna Dunn (JR/Valley Springs, CA) advanced Loa to third base. The Saints would leave Loa on third after the first inning. The V-Hawks had a single hit in home half of the inning. After an out to begin the second inning Yulissa Pena singled. Chloe Dominger (JR/Grant Pass, OR) then followed it up with single to advance Pena to second. Isabella Proctor then singled to load the bases. Sydney Carter continued to be patient at the plate and drew a walk to score Pena. Cassy Loa then reached on a fielder’s choice for the second out in the inning. The inning ended on another fielder’s choice off the bat of Breanna Dunn. Saints pitching shut down Viterbo to three up three down in the second. The only offense for the Saints was a Victoria Vau walk in the third. The V-Hawks only had a walk in the bottom of the third inning. The score after three was Saints 1 V-Hawks 0.

Isabella Proctor’s single was the only hit for the Saints in the fourth inning. Viterbo opened the game up with seven runs in the fourth inning. Cassy Loa started the Saints fifth with a single. Loa then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Breanna Dunn walked to put runners on the corner. On a double steal Loa took home and Dunn took second. Bella Pinotti (JR/Las Vegas, NV) reached on a fielder’s choice. Camille Vestal (JR/Madera, CA) reached on a walk to load the bases. After an out and a fielder’s choice the inning ended with the Saints scoring a single run. After the V-Hawks explosion in the fourth the Saints limited them to a single. In the sixth Chloe Dominger started the inning with a walk and made it to second off of a passed ball. In the bottom of the sixth the V-Hawks scored three runs to end the game with a score of Saints 2 V-Hawks 10.

Cassy Loa (JR/San Diego, CA) started the game off with reaching on a throwing error. Breanna Dunn (JR/Valley Springs, CA) then had a sacrifice bunt to advance Loa to third. Bella Pinotti (JR/Las Vegas, NV) grounded out but allowed Loa to score. The V-Hawks answered back with a single run in the bottom of the first inning. Both pitchers settled down in the second inning and both teams went three up three down. After an out Isabella Proctor (FR/San Tan Valley, AZ) walked for the only Saint offense in the third inning. The V-Hawks scored two runs in the third inning. After three innings of plays the Saints were down by a single run.

In the fourth inning both teams were held off the scoreboard. In the fifth inning the Saints started with a Yulissa Pena (SR/Palmdale, CA) single. Pena then moved into scoring position off a passed ball. Chloe Dominger (JR/Grant Pass, OR) singled to advance Pena to third base. Dominger then stole second to avoid the possibility of a double play. Katie Hanson (FR/Jasper, MN) walked to load the bases with Saints. Isabella Proctor reached base on a fielder’s choice. Pena scored on the play from a throwing error. Cassy Loa then singled to score Dominger. Proctor was thrown out trying to score. Breanna Dunn reached base on a fielder’s choice cutting the run off at home. Breanna Dunn stole second in the inning. The Saints scored two runs in the fifth to tie the game up. Lauren Paredes (SR/Moorpark, CA) held the V-Hawks to three up three down in the fifth to keep the score tied.

Camille Vestal (JR/Madera, CA) singled to start the sixth inning. Victoria Vau (SR/Ukiah, CA) reached on a fielder’s choice but Vestal advanced to second off a fielding error. Yulissa Pena reached off of a fielder’s choice with Vestal out at third base. Chloe Dominger then doubled to score Vau and advance Pena to third base. Katie Hanson then flew out on a sacrifice fly to score Pena. Presentation limited Viterbo to a single baserunner off an error in the sixth inning. Cassy Loa led off with a single in the seventh inning. Breanna Dunn reached on a fielder’s choice and Loa reached second on an error. Bella Pinotti reached on a fielder’s choice with Loa out at third. Camille Vestal had a single that scored Dunn and advanced Pinotti to second base. In the bottom of the inning the Saints held the V-Hawks off the scoreboard and held on for the win 6-3.

La Crosse, WI (PCSaints.com)  – The Presentation College Saints wrapped up their final NSAA regular season series today ever in La Crosse, WI. versus the V-Hawks of Viterbo University. In the single game of the day the Saints lost 2-3 in eight innings. The Saints are now 11-27 overall and 7-17 in the NSAA. The seven wins in conference is the most since the 2018 season.

Game #4

The Saints got off to a good start for the final game in the series. Cassy Loa (JR/San Diego, CA) reached base on a walk. Breanna Dunn (JR/Valley Springs, CA) then sacrifice bunted her to second base. Bella Pinotti (JR/Las Vegas, NV) then grounded out to advance Loa to third base. Camille Vestal (JR/Madera, CA) walked to put runners on the corners. Loa scored before Vestal was tagged out at second in the first inning. Sarah Shevenell (JR/Madera, CA) sat the V-Hawks down in order in the home half of the inning. The Saints went down in order in the second inning. Shevenell sat down Viterbo in order for the second straight inning. For the second straight inning the Saints went three up three down in the third inning. In the bottom of the third inning the V-Hawks scored a single run to tie the game at one after three innings.

Breanna Dunn started the fourth inning off with a walk. Bella Pinotti grounded out to advance Dunn to second base. Camille Vestal grounded out to advance Dunn to third base. The Saints were unable to score Dunn from third in the fourth inning. The Saints limited the V-Hawks to a single walk in the fourth inning. Yulissa Pena (SR/Palmdale, CA) walked to start off the fifth inning for the Saints. Chloe Dominger (JR/Grant Pass, OR) sacrifice bunted to move Pena to second base. Katie Hanson (FR/Jasper, MN) singled and advanced to second on the throw. Pena was thrown out at home trying to score on the play. Isabella Proctor (FR/San Tan Valley, AZ) doubled to score Hanson from second base. Cassy Loa hit a single and Proctor tried to score from second on the play but was thrown out at home to end the inning. In the bottom of the inning the V-Hawks loaded up the bases but only scored a single run to tie the game up. After five innings of play the score was tied at two runs apiece.

Breanna Dunn singled to start the sixth inning for the Saints. After an out Camille Vestal reached on an error advancing Dunn to second base. Victoria Vau (SR/Ukiah, CA) walked to load the bases with Saints. The Saints lined into a double play to end the inning and any scoring threat in the sixth inning. In the home half of the inning the Saints limited the V-Hawks to just two hits. Chloe Dominger led off the seventh inning with a single. The single was the only hit the Saints could get in the top of the seventh inning. Viterbo was limited to a walk in the seventh inning. The score remained tied at two after seven innings of play.

After two outs to begin the inning Camille Vestal doubled for the Saints in the eighth inning. Vestal’s double was the only hit for the Saints in the eighth inning. Viterbo doubled in a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to end the game.
