(NSUWolves.com) – College Sports Communicators announced their 2022-23 Academic All-District® teams in basketball today with Northern State University seniors Jordan Belka, Sam Masten, and Laurie Rogers honored. The Academic All-District® Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. All three Wolves will advance to the Academic All-American® ballot announced in March.
Belka is a graduate student for the Wolves, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business. The Minnesota native has started all 28 games for the Wolves this season and is averaging 13.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest. He is shooting 47.5% from the floor, 35.2% from the 3-point line, and 84.2% from the foul line. In addition, Belka is an NSIC Myles Brand honoree.
Masten is a Business Management major and will graduate this May. The Colorado native leads Northern State averaging 18.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 6.4 assists through 28 games. He is shooting 56.8% from the floor, 41.4% from the 3-point line, and 78.6% from the foul line. In addition, Masten ranks in the top-10 in the country in assist/turnover ratio, total assists, and assists per game. He was recently named to the Top-50 watch list for the SCB Bevo Francis Award.
Rogers is a Biology and Chemistry major at Northern State and will graduate this May. The Aberdeen native has started all 28 games for the Wolves this season and is averaging a team second best 11.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. She is shooting a team best 47.4% from the floor and 75.9% from the foul line. In addition, Rogers is an NSIC Myles Brand honoree.
About the CSCS Academic All-America® Program
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
