Wings Earn Weekend Split with Minot

The Aberdeen Wings dropped the first game to the Minot Minotauros on Friday night 4-2. Cole Moore was in net for the Wings making 21/25 saves while giving up all 4 goals. For the Tauros they had Lawton Zacher in net and he made 34/36 saves.
The Wings got on the board first with a goal coming from Michael Casey giving him his 11th goal of the season. The Tauros outshot the Wings 11-8 in the first. It was a back and forth period. With neither team really getting an offensive zone advantage.
In the second Minot got on the board early with a powerplay goal coming from Hunter Longhi. This time the Wings outshot the Tauros 13-7 in the period.
In the third the Tauros blew the game open by scoring 3 straight goals coming from Braden Fischer, Adam Mahler, and Trevor Stachowiak. The Wings finally got on the board late in the third with a power play goal coming from Alexander Gullichsen. The Tauros lead was too big for the Wings to come back and dropped the game.

Aberdeen Wings 6-1
A five goal third period lifted the Wings to a 6-1 win over the Minot Minotauros, giving the Wings a weekend split of the Tauros.
The first period started off quick with Dylan Wegner making the teddy bears fly only 15 seconds in. Shortly after that Chase LaPinta tied the game at 1 4:26 into the period. It was pretty quiet after that. The Wings outshot the Tauros 11-7 in the first.
The second was even more silent scoring wise. Both teams remained at 1 after the second with the Wings killing off 2 penalties in the game. The Wings once again outshot the Tauros this time 10-8.
The third period was a Wings scoring clinic as Owen Benoit scored on the powerplay only 1:03 into the third. Shortly after Dylan Wegner got his second of the night 2:38 into the third making it a 3-1 Wings lead. Three minutes after the Wings scored two goals. Roope Tuomioksa got in on the fun and scored on the powerplay making it a 4-1 lead. Then at the 6:01 mark Nikolai Tishkevich also got a goal making it 5-1 game. After all that Kyle Contessa slams the door shut 16:33 into the third making it a 6-1 lead and win.
Cole Moore got the big win making 27/28 saves and the Tauros goaltender Lawton Zacher gets the loss making 29/35 saves. “It’s always good when the group puts an effort together to counter a loss. The Wings will close out the 6 game homestand, tied for second in the division, next weekend, March 10-11th as we host the number 1 team in the Central in the Austin Bruins. As always doors open at 5:30 and puck drops at 7:15.
