ABERDEEN, SD (AberdeenWings.com) – [FRI] The Aberdeen Wings fell to the Minot Minotauros in Friday night’s matchup. The final score was 5-1 after 3 periods of hockey. Cole Moore was in net for the Wings once again and saved 24/29 shots. Noah Rupprecht was in net for the Tauros and he managed to save 32/33.
The first period was quick. Not many blown whistles and only 1 goal coming from Chase LaPinta of Minot only 1:08 into the first. Giving them the 1-0 lead after 1.
The second period was a little slower paced. 2 penalties called and 2 goals. The two penalties were on the Wings and the two goals were for Minot. First goal coming from Weston Knox early in the period once again this time 2:16 into the period. The third goal coming from Chase LaPinta again this time on the powerplay giving them a 3-0 lead after 2.
The third period is where the Wings would face a massive hill to climb. Penalty after penalty called on the Wings and some missed calls on either side of the ice gave the Wings 4 penalty kills on the period. They were able to get one goal coming from Nick Comfort giving him his first goal as a Wing. That goal was assisted by Bennett Koupal and Jordan Ronn giving Ronn his first ever NAHL point. The Tauros would then put an end to the game with Chase LaPinta getting his third on the night on the powerplay once again to make it a 4-1 game. And in the closing seconds Kolby Amici would get a short handed goal with 4 seconds left of the game to close it out 5-1.

ABERDEEN, SD (AberdeenWings.com) – [SAT] The Aberdeen Wings dropped the second game to the Minot Minotauros on Saturday night. The Wings had the 1-0 lead heading into the third period but a strong third from Minot would be the deciding factor of the game. Geno Pichora was in net for the Wings making 27/29 saves. Noah Rupprecht was in net again for the Tauros he made 26/27 saves.
The first period was very even both teams were able to get 7 shots on net but both goaltenders were able to stop all 7 shots. There were also 4 penalties on the Wings and 2 on the Tauros. Both teams were not able to get goal on the extra attacker in the period.
In the second period the Wings were able to outshoot their opponent 13 to 12 and that extra shot on goal for the Wings would help them get the 1-0 lead with a powerplay goal coming from Dylan Wegner that goal was assisted by Devon Carlstrom and Jordan Ronn. Once again tons of penalties in the period with the Wings getting 3 penalties assessed to them and Minot getting 5.
The third period Minot was all Minot. They outshot the Wings 10 to 7 while getting two goals in the period. The first goal coming from Kolby Amici and the second goal coming from Weston Knox. This period there weren’t as many penalties with each team getting one on the period.
The Aberdeen Wings will travel to St. Cloud to take on the Norsemen next weekend with another big weekend. The Wings fell into the 5th spot in the Central Division. Though they are tied for points with Minot, the Tauros get the tie breaker with more wins. Still a very tight division heading into the last two weeks of the regular season.
