Orange City, IA (NSUWolves.com) [Day 1] – The Northern State University track and field teams kicked off their weekend at the Red Raider Open on Friday competing in the multi events and a number of field and running events. Morgan Sheldon leads the way sitting second in the heptathlon and 16 total Wolves recorded top-5 finishes.
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Sean Juengst sits in sixth in the decathlon with 2,896 points, notching marks of 12.11 in the 100m, 5.46m in the long jump, 10.19m in the shot put, 1.87m in the high jump, and 54.73 in the 400m
- Eli Radtke sits in eighth in the decathlon with 2,716 points, recording marks of 11.67 in the 100m, 5.39m in the long jump, 8.79m in the shot put, 1.72m in the high jump, and 55.81 in the 400m
- Nick Olson led the Wolves in the hammer, taking third with a 51.00m throw
- Vance Borchers and Noah Ford took fifth and seventh in the javelin, throwing 42.58m and 40.25m
- Three Wolves landed in the top-7 of the pole vault, led by Sam Tremelling in first with a provisional mark of 4.82m
- Ford and Rico Imus took third and seventh, vaulting 4.22m and 3.92m
- Josh Martin added an event win in the 5000m, running to a time of 15:25.79, followed by Chase Smith in fifth with a time of 16:42.06
- It was an all Northern State run in the 10,000m that saw Nathan Alto win the event with a time of 32:30.10, followed by Jacob Angerhofer and Jalen Chase in second and third with times of 34:30.07 and 36:24.58
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Sheldon holds 1,934 points heading into day two of the heptathlon with marks of 15.72 in the 100m hurdles, 1.57m in the high jump, and 9.30m in the shot put
- Addison Cumbow sits ninth in the heptathlon with 1,074 points, recording marks of 16.30m in the 100m hurdles and 7.95m in the shot put
- Megan Pickering won the 5000m with a time of 18:29.45, followed by Kenzie Hamann in third with a time of 19:09.72
- Cassidy Gough threw to a second place finish in the hammer, with a 48.88m toss on her third throw of the day
- Shawney Coenraad followed in seventh, tossing 42.55m
- Gough concluded her day with a fifth place finish in the javelin, throwing 29.96m
- Northern tallied four Wolves in the top six of the pole vault, led by event winner Kenzee Danielson with a 3.55m vault
- Laci Leverty, Bethany Dybdahl, and Makenna Glanzer took second, fourth, and sixth in the pole vault, clearing 3.55m, 3.25m, and 3.10m respectively
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- Tremelling’s vault of 4.82m is the first provisional mark of his career and places him in the top-30 nationally in the event

Orange City, IA (NSUWolves.com) [Day 2] – The Northern State University track and field teams brought home six event wins on the second day of the Red Raider Open. The cold temps made for harsh conditions, however the Wolves came away with 22 top-10 finishes
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Sean Juengst placed second in the decathlon with 5,467 points, notching marks of 12.11 in the 100m, 5.46m in the long jump, 10.19m in the shot put, 1.87m in the high jump, 54.73 in the 400m, 17.83 in the 110m hurdles, 29.89m in the discus, 3.85m in the pole vault, 40.49m in the javelin, and 5:02.84 in the 1500m
- Eli Radtke took sixth in the decathlon with 5,053 points, recording marks of 11.67 in the 100m, 5.39m in the long jump, 8.79m in the shot put, 1.72m in the high jump, 55.81 in the 400m, 17.94 in the 110m hurdles, 21.34m in the discus, 4.35m in the pole vault, 40.70m in the javelin, and 5:46.07 in the 1500m
- The 4x100m relay team of Noah Bayer, Joel Matehs, Isaac Olson, and Seth Martens took second with a time of 42.70
- Jonathan Burkhalter and Jacob Angerhofer took sixth and seventh in the 1500m wit times of 4:10.13 and 4:11.94
- Joel Matehs tallied the first men’s win of the day for the Wolves in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.03
- Dan Istvanovich and Collin Engebretson took fourth and sixth in the 400m with times of 55.26 and 56.74
- Bayer added a fifth place finish in the 100m, crossing the finish line in 11.10
- Burkhalter and Blake Stoks took third and fifth in the 800m finishing in 2:03.48 and 2:09.51 respectively
- Isaac Olson recorded a seventh place finish in the 200m with a time of 23.30
- The 4x400m relay team of Matehs, Chase Domier, Josh Martin, and Seth Martens won the race with a time of 3:29.73
- Nick Olson kicked off the throwing events for the Wolves with a third place in the shot put with a 14.43m toss
- Olson added an eighth place finish in the discus, throwing 39.24m
- Vance Borchers notched a runner-up finish in the high jump, clearing 1.87m, and third place finish in the long jump with a 6.18m mark
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Morgan Sheldon won the heptathlon with 3,892 points with marks of 15.72 in the 100m hurdles, 1.57m in the high jump, 9.30m in the shot put, 28.96 in the 200m, 4.64m in the long jump, 28.09m in the javelin, and 2:46.86 in the 800m
- Addison Cumbow took ninth in the heptathlon with 2,776 points, recording marks of 16.30m in the 100m hurdles, 7.95m in the shot put, 29.24 in the 200m, 3.69m in the long jump, 19.00 in the javelin, and 3:32.08 in the 800m
- Megan Pickering and Kenzie Hamann took fourth and sixth in the 1500m with times of 4:53.04 and 5:13.08
- Four Wolves placed in the top-5 of the 800m led by Mary Franssen and Summer Carlson in first and second with times of 2:24.12 and 2:24.31
- Alli Jackson and Jennifer Clark followed in third and fifth with times of 2:31.27 and 2:51.49
- Sierra Sweeney tallied a runner-up finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.69
- The 4x400m relay team of Kyanna Collymore, Vanessa Klein, Jackson, and Renea Taylor won the race with a time of 4:05.47
- Kilee Bladow and Jordan Tschumperlin took fourth and seventh in the high jump clearing 1.57m and 1.52m
- Sweeney moved to the field events, winning the triple jump with an 11.14m mark
- Kamryn Schwartz took fourth in the triple jump with a 10.39m leap and eighth in the long jump with a 4.55m mark
UP NEXT
Northern State travels to the Mount Marty twilight next Wednesday, April 26 in Yankton. The Wolves will also compete from the Drake Relays, scheduled for Thursday through Saturday next week.
