Yankton, SD (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University track and field teams competed from the Mount Marty Twilight yesterday, bringing home nine event victories. The men and women combined for 31 top-5 finishes from the meet that had ten teams in competition.
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Chase Domier tallied the first top-5 finish of the day for the men, taking second in the 200m with a time of 23.02
- Seth Martens added a third place finish in the 400m, notching a time of 49.73
- Josh Martin grabbed the first event victory for the Wolves, taking the 800m with a time of 1:55.34
- Joel Matehs recorded a fourth place finish in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.06
- In the 3000m steeplechase, Jonathan Burkhalter recorded a second place finish with a time of 9:54.00
- The 4x100m relay team of Noah Bayer, Matehs, Isaac Olson, and Martens took third with a time of 43.32, while the 4x400m squad of Carter Moller, Blake Stoks, Dan Istvanovich, and Dylan Schimke took fifth with a time of 3:34.84
- Moller moved to the field events and took fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.80m
- Sam Tremelling and Noah Ford took second and fifth in the pole vault with marks of 4.73m and 4.23m respectively
- Nick Olson added a fourth place finish in the hammer, tossing 52.01m
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Renea Taylor and Kyanna Collymore took first and second in the 200m, running to times of 24.75 and 26.40
- Collymore added an event win in the 400m with a time of 58.68, followed by Vanessa Klein in fourth with a time of 1:00.12
- Northern swept the top spots in the 800m, led by Mary Franssen with a race winning time of 2:19.40
- Summer Carlson, Jennifer Clark, and Alli Jackson followed with times of 2:21.47, 2:24.27, and 2:25.67
- Megan Pickering won the 5000m, racing to a time of 18:20.79
- Sierra Sweeney added a third place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.28, while Kenzie Hamann raced to a personal record of 12:12.35 in the 3000m steeplechase
- The 4x100m relay team of Klein, Taylor, Laci Leverty, and Collymore took second with a time of 48.33, while the 4x400m squad of Jackson, Franssen, Clark, and Carlson took third with a time of 4:09.86
- Kilee Bladow, Emily Breske, and Jordan Tschumperlin tied for second in the high jump, clearing 1.55m
- Kenzee Danielson and Leverty took first and third in the pole vault, clearing 3.55m and 3.45m respectively
- Sweeny closed out her day with a win in the triple jump, recording a mark of 11.25m
- Cassidy Gough won the hammer, tossing 51.46m, while Shawney Coenraad took sixth with a 44.78m throw
- Gough added a fourth place finish in the javelin with a 32.02m throw, while Addison Cumbow took fifth, throwing 31.85m
