Wolves “Tune Up” in Vermillion

Vermillion, SD (NSUWolves.com) – The full Northern State University track and field squads competed from the USD Tune-up today, bringing home 15 top-5 finishes.
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Five Wolves landed in the top-10 of the pole vault, led by Noah Ford in fourth place with a 4.75m mark
  • Sam Tremelling and Eli Radtke took fifth and sixth with marks of 4.42m and 4.22m, while Isaac Ligon and Rico Imus took eighth and ninth vaulting 4.02m
  • Nick Olson threw to a third place finish in the hammer, tossing 52.47m
  • Ethan Barnett led the way in the discus, taking eighth overall with a 43.53m toss
  • Carter Moller added a seventh place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.81m
  • Max Vande Kieft jumped to a fifth place finish in the triple jump with a 12.67m on his fourth attempt of the day
  • Ford, Brady Rohrbach, and Vance Borcher took third, fifth, and eighth in the javelin, throwing 49.67m, 46.62m, and 42.89m respectively
  • Jonathan Burkhalter raced to a time of 4:11.30 in the 1500m, taking seventh overall
  • Joel Matehs recorded the first event win of the day, taking first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.97, followed by Jaden Bohms-Buechler, Isaac Ligon, and Eli Radtke in seventh, ninth, and tenth with times of 15.63, 16.30, and 16.38
  • Noah Bayer added an eighth place finish in the 100m with a time of 11.04
  • Josh Martin recorded a time of 1:55.61 in the 800m, taking fourth overall
  • Matehs added his second victory in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.07, while Ligon took fifth with a time of 1:00.07
  • The 200m saw Seth Martens take fourth with a time of 22.24
  • The 4x400m relay team of Dylan Schimke, Moller, Blake Stoks, and Sean Juengst took fifth with a time of 3:36.00
  • Jacob Angerhofer closed out the day for the Wolves taking seventh in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:15.67
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Kenzee Danielson, Laci Leverty, and Bethany Dybdahl rounded out the top-10 of the pole vault taking eighth through tenth with marks of 3.74m, 3.54m, and 3.34m
  • Cassidy Gough took seventh in the hammer, throwing 54.04m
  • The high jump crew of Kilee Bladow (1.56m), Morgan Sheldon (1.51m), Jordan Tschumperlin (1.51m), and Emily Breske (1.51m) placed sixth through eighth
  • Sierra Sweeney added a tenth place finish in the long jump with a 5.05m mark
  • Gough closed out her day taking sixth in the javelin, tossing 32.96m, followed by Sheldon in tenth with a 31.69m toss
  • Megan Pickering took second in the 1500m with a time of 4:48.55
  • Sheldon and Addison Cumbow placed fourth and seventh with times of 15.47 and 15.83 in the 100m hurdles
  • Kyanna Collymore took seventh in the 400m with a time of 1:00.00, while Vanessa Klein took tenth with a time of 1:00.87
  • Three Wolves landed in the top-10 of the 800m, led by Mary Franssen with a time of 2:18.45 in fifth
  • Jennifer Clark and Summer Carlson took eighth and ninth with times of 2:19.95 and 2:21.49

Northern State will continue competition next Thursday-Saturday, May 11-13, at the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Concordia-St. Paul.
