Mitchell couple pleads guilty to unlawful use of computer

MITCHELL, S.D. (KMIT) – A Mitchell couple pleaded guilty Tuesday to unlawful use of a computer system to obtain money. In exchange for the guilty plea, several other charges were dropped against Ramon (RAY-min) and Kylie Shultz of Mitchell. The two, who are each 37 years old, face up to 25 years in prison for the charge, which is a Class 2 felony.

The couple used a computer system to move $20,000 from the account of Mitchell Roofing’s payroll to a fictitious account at online bank Ally Bank. Mitchell Roofing called police to report irregularities in their accounts. The couple was arrested in June following an investigation. Judge Chris Giles (jiles) ordered a pre-sentence report. Sentencing was set for May.
