Meet the Voice - Josh Bertaccini

Josh Bertaccini is the Sports Director for Hub City Radio.  A Northeast native, Josh was born in New York City, grew up in New Jersey and finished a lackluster high school hoops run at Friends Select School in Philadelphia, PA.  His journalism career started there as an intern at the Philadelphia Daily News, where Josh published his first articles when he was only 17.  He attended Syracuse University on a Chancellor’s Scholarship from 1998 to 2002, starting in radio at Syracuse's WAER 88.3 FM and graduating from the prestigious Newhouse Communications School in May of 2002 (Dual B.A. Broadcast Journalism & English Literature).  In the eight years since, he has lived and worked all over the country.

He was a sports talk host and sideline reporter for Syracuse University football and basketball at Central New York’s AM 570 WSYR from 2002 to 2004, covering the Orange’s Carmelo Anthony-led NCAA basketball title team in 2003.  While in Syracuse, he also worked as a sports reporter and anchor for NBC affiliate WSTM-TV.  Additionally, he was a feature columnist for Syracuse’s Eagle Newspapers.  He reported on local sports at the Newark Star-Ledger, (New Jersey’s oldest newspaper) from 2004 to 2005.  That winter Josh headed west to Valley City, North Dakota’s AM 1490 KOVC, where he worked for two years as a talk show host and play by play announcer.

The following summer, Josh was on the move again—this time southward.  (He’s got UHAUL on speed dial.)  He was hired as Program Director by Fort Smith, Arkansas’s ESPN 96.3 FM.  While there, he anchored pre- and postgame shows for Arkansas Razorback football, basketball & baseball games.  Josh enjoyed being a Yankee in Dixie for a while, spending three years in the South before heading even further west to join Los Angeles, California’s AM 570 KLAC in 2009.  At the Fox Sports Radio flagship, Josh covered the UCLA beat, reporting live from Bruins’ home games, interviewing players and coaches, hosting shows and writing a blog for KLAC’s website.

But the call of the Dakotas wouldn’t hush.  November of 2009 saw Josh join Armada Media and Aberdeen, South Dakota’s Hub City Radio as Sports Director.  He hosts a daily talk show, “Sports Rush” on AM 930 KSDN and does play-by-play for Golden Eagle games on ESPN Radio 1420.  Josh is married to the beautiful and ultra-patient North Dakota native Megan Debra, who puts up with his Syracuse Orange obsession and passions for the usually not so good Jets, Mets, Knicks and Flyers.  Josh loves talking sports, music & movies, traveling, playing basketball and spending as much time with friends and family as he can.
